Heroes. Despite how terrible and awful whites were on the home front, the Nazis were far worse. Plus, alot of black veterans who returned would go on to form one of the pillars of the nascent Civil Rights movement.

Yea, everyone honors the Tuskegee airmen, as well they should, but alot of brothers who were in support roles get overlooked because it isn't as glamorous.
