AEW Rumored Signing: Former NWA Champion

A rumor is circulating that All Elite Wrestling could be interested in bringing in former NWA Television Champion Ricky Starks. The timing for Starks’ NWA exit is especially interesting in this situation.

Ricky Starks has some serious momentum on his way out of the National Wrestling Alliance. There he was able to capture the NWA Television Championship at the Hard Times PPV, winning a tournament final against Trevor Murdoch to become champion, before losing the belt to Zicky Dice on an episode of NWA Powerrr. He left the NWA on good terms, choosing to not sign a new deal with them despite being the middle of a pandemic. You don’t make that move without a plan in place, and we could see this come to frution, as rumors begin to swirl regarding AEW.

From the NWA Television Championship to the TNT Championship, we could see Starks collect another championship in 2020. Cody Rhodes had previously stated that he will defend the TNT Championship against anyone who wants a shot, with him having beaten Jungle Boy & Marc Quen so far. We know Jake Hager will take a shot at Fyter Fest, but Cody might not make it that far. Ricky Starks is expected to be one of the first outside talents to take advantage of this chance to get into AEW. It is likely a promising young star like Starks has already been signed to AEW, and this would be a way to debut him in a huge way.

This dude looks along the lines of Lio Rush/Low Ki...if he has good mic skills ok but i guess we'll see. not mad at AEW for trying to bring in some lesser knowns tho.

Starks is the best mic worker in NWA. He’s still finding his own voice, but his natural ability gives him an incredibly high ceiling. In the ring he’s nothing to write about though

the same can be said for damn near every great mic worker right now

thats not a dig on him but i guess the era of the last 10 years or so....The Miz..terrific on the mic...ring work is shyt....EC3 is phenomenal on the mic but his matches leave a lot to be desired...more recently MJF is slowly becoming the best heel in the biz and his matches are basura right now.
