Omar Figueroa: I Can Give Broner a Run For His Money!

WBC lightweight champion Omar Figueroa (24-0-1, 18KOs) is still considering the possibility of moving up to the junior welterweight division. Last year Figueroa was the mandatory challenger to Adrien Broner, who held the WBC crown at 135. But then Broner (29-1, 22KOs) jumped up to the welterweight division and Figueroa, the interim-champion, was elevated to the status of full champion.

After suffering a loss to Marcos Maidana last December, Broner moved down in weight to 140-pounds. And Figueroa is still very much interested in facing him.

"As a fighter I respect him. I'm glad that he's doing good. I'm glad that he's at 140 now, which is a better weight for him. 147 was obviously not his weight. At 140 he looked strong, he looked good. But I think I can give him a run for his money," Fugueroa told BoxingScene.com.

Broner is often compared to Floyd Mayweather Jr. Figueroa says the once-beaten fighter is not as elusive and far more stationary.

"He doesn't move as much as [Floyd] Mayweather and even if he tried he doesn't move as good as Mayweather. I think I'll be able to get in there and land a few punches," Figueroa said.

Fight will definitely be a welcomed all-action fight though if it's able to be made.

He's calling out Matthsse and Broner....but he has no semblance of defense at all


Both of them KO him easily. Matthysse will brutally KO him and Broner just beats him into submission

That's what it sounds like to me too. It's like he knows he struggling against everyone and he might as well get paid before he inevitably loses soon.
