Damn, putting my name in thread titles like I'm the resident workout master here, there are plenty of dudes that know way more than me on here I'm a beginner compared to some of them :russ:.

But yes, I squat and deadlift but didn't start doing either of them consistently until the last few months. Right now I'm cutting weight and doing 3 full body workouts per week and cardio on my other workout days. I start my workout with 3 sets of 5 heavy squats. I'm trying to retain my strength while I drop fat, its not an easy task so I'm continuing to lift heavy.

1 day per week, I do 1 or 2 sets of deadlifts. I don't like to do too many weekly sets of deadlifts because I don't like the compression on my lower back, the long term risk to reward ratio is not worth it to me. I want to work it just enough

I'm not strong enough to really have to worry joint problems with heavy lifts. What is heavy to me is light to a more experienced lifter. I'm working up to being able to squat 225 5X5 and after that I'm done increasing the weight.
