Nothing he said there is business-damaging. On the contrary, it sounds more like WWE is fully invested in the UK wrestling biz and its health.Direct quote:
- "Yes, some of these (UK) indies are going to go away. The ones that are gonna go away are the ones that were paying you $25 when they promised you $75, the ones that didn't have a ring that would hold up, the ones that didn't have medical there, the ones that didn't care about you they were just booking you because they were hoping to sell some tickets and you had a little bit of buzz so they were hoping to sell some tickets and they could care less what you do when you do it."
- They want to work with the ones that were cultivating talent, encouraging them to become better, working on promos, medical care at the show itself, so you weren't laying there for 45 minutes while they were working on if they could get an ambulance or an Uber (oddly specific, I feel like this part may have been something that actually happened, but I could just be thinking too much, if anyone knows what this could be about give a shout in the comments)
- Triple H admits there are some promotions (UK) that they don't allow talent to work for, and they are the ones that don't follow the guidelines mentioned above.
name one UK promotion that was hot in the streets that NXT "ruined"all the places NXT raided/"helped" are worse off now
I think the Uber comment is a shot at Ring of Honor. During their UK tour in October Jay Lethal broke his arm and they didn't have an ambulance on stand by, so Mary Scrull hd to make arrangements for an Uber to take Jay Lethal to a hospital.
ICW went from doing tours of the UK and selling out the Hydro to not touring the UK and having shows in nightclubs as a result of its partnership with WWE. And, the people who founded PROGRESS aren't even with the company anymore along with a lot of big names (who got their start in PROGRESS). The UK is a much smaller market for wrestling than America, so NXT: UK is more damaging for wrestling in the UK than NXT is for wrestling in America.
If that's all the sitch was they wouldn't be blocking talent from Rev Pro shows.
all the places NXT raided/"helped" are worse off now
Counter point: The UK indie scene is largely trash, boosted by a handful of strong talents who work to leave that shytty island as much as possible (Bate, Dunne, PAC, ZSJ, Balor, Ospreay, Scurll).
name one UK promotion that was hot in the streets that NXT "ruined"
