As a big man if you can't play defense you are a pretender and a liability. Anthony Davis is the superior big man than Jokic . Defense wins championships. Game winning block. :sas1:

The team is constructed for him to play PF though with Gasol and Drummond and Trezz they all Centers.
Unfortunately that's because AD has consistently refused to play center. :francis:

A lineup with AD-Bron as the two bigs would clearly have way better spacing and have been easier to build around. They only need a center for spot banging duty like how they used Dwight last year.

AD is a hybrid PF / Center , he stepped up and played center in the Playoffs and Finals last year. WCF and Finals AD is some of the best work we've seen from a big in years. I get it that when the Lakers have a good player people tend to try to undermine them. I think his ability to play both interchangeably is more proof that he's the best big in the game when healthy.

But that's the point, he played center for most of the playoffs and the Lakers looked their best. It's obviously what he should be doing more often. AD should be the primary center with Gasol putting in bench minutes and sometimes coming in against slow bigs.

LAKERS WERE 1 SEED
BOTH YRS WITH AD PLAYING
PF IN THE REGULAR SEASON...

THERES LITERALLY NO REASON
TO CHANGE IT IN THE REG SEASON.

It is if you want to build a lineup that actually works for the playoffs, and not waste two roster spots on Trez/Drummond who want to be starters and really should be getting DNPs for most playoff games.

:francis:

I mean even regular season last year it was clear they were better with AD at center. First game against the Clippers he played PF the whole time and they got beat easily. Second game he played center half the game and it was closer. For the 3rd and 4th games AD played center most of the time and Lakers won both of them. There was basically zero reason to have McGee in the lineup except as injury insurance, it should have been Dwight to bang with bigs and AD the rest of the time.

Playing one lineup in the regular season and a different lineup in the postseason worked last year cause you had the entire bubble to prepare with plenty of time to practice and build chemistry. This year they tried to add a bunch of new guys, on a condensed schedule, and they're still a work in progress. How many lineups have they even played with Bron at 4 and AD at 5? Where do Trez and Drummond fit in the playoff roster? Gasol is playing his career low in minutes by a long shot and has appeared disgruntled at times, doesn't having all those centers on the roster make it even worse?

TEAM OUT WEST WHO CAN A BEAT
A HEALTHY LAKERS THE PAST 2 SEASONS AND THERE BIGS SITUATION
IS NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT....

SO YOU HAVE THE REAL CENTERS
TO BANG WITH JOKIC, AYTON

You don't want a big center to bang with Gobert and Ayton, it's not like those are guys they feed inside all game. You want a player like AD who is going to pull them away from the hoop. Remember how much trouble Houston used to give Gobert when they went small?

When Gasol was banging with Jokic the Lakers were great tonight. When Drummond was in the game they were ass. So why even have Drummond in the game, wouldn't it be better to have AD play the 5 the rest of the time? It almost cost them the W tonight.

GETTING DRUM
WAS LOW RISK, HIGH REWARD.

IF HE WORKS OUT GREAT.
IF NOT YOU KEPT HIM FROM
A COMPETITOR AND YOU BENCH HIM.

GASOL WAS SUPPOSED TO STRETCH
THE FLOOR.
