Sarah Rector, also known as Sarah Rector Campbell and Sarah Campbell Crawford, (March 3, 1902 – July 22, 1967) was an American oil magnate since childhood. Under the Treaty of 1866, due to birthright as a Black grandchild of Creek Indians born before the American Civil War, she inherited land. It was surprisingly discovered oil-rich and produced over US$300 (equivalent to $9,800 in 2023) per day, so she was known as the "Richest Colored Girl in the World".

of course whites found a way to rip her off. since she was only 10 years old, as the money began to pile up, they were forced to get a white person to 'oversee' her money, and at one point the state of oklahoma considered making her an 'honorary white'
they've been filming a movie about her a little south of here.

she did get to live it up for a little while, at least. she was quite wealthy until the great depression came.
i suppose it wasn't a very positive story after all.
