A lot of rappers, southern ones in particular justify their lack of lyrical ability by straight up saying they're just game spitters and aren't trying to rap your head off
More often than not though you can think of moments where these guys tried to (and usually failed)..even Jeezy upped his pen game at one point
A Big Tymers track came on the shuffle and I just thought about that...of the rappers who have a decent amount of material and don't profess to be spitters I can't think of any time where Birdman tried to switch shyt up and use double time or really "go in" on something past flashy/killer shyt. It sounds comical to even think about actually
As terrible as that sounds dude knows his lane and stays in it..I can't think of one song or verse where he slipped up and tried to be something he wasn't...even though he has all the writers to do it.
I picture every Birdman verse like him counting money, getting up going into the booth, then going back to counting his money
