Funny cause I been riding to some of the joints on here recently. Was definitely an album I didn’t play much when it came out but I been in a mode of rediscovering albums I passed on. As stated, not there best but also not wack. There are joints on it.

It feels more like a compilation but it has a lot of dope shyt. Find a Way, Pad & Pen and Busta's Lament are top 10 Tribe songs for me. I remember somebody described it as more of a Slum Village album but with Tip and Phife instead of Baatin and T3 and I think that's spot-on
Not a bad analysis re Slum without Slum, however i'd argue Jay Dee was sounding more rigid and maybe polished for lack of a better word at this point of his production. This is compared to Fantastic 2 (interestingly released after Love Movement. the latter of which probably got recorded pre Love Movement and finessed and released later i.e. The Fantastic Vol 1 re recorded songs and repeats present on Vol.2.

I can't remember if it was this album or the Tip/Amplified album in which Dilla lost the entire albums instrumentals mid album and then had to start everything again? That had to have impacted whichever one it was, its never the same when you do it all again. Tip then having his records flooded or burnt in the following few years too, bad run of luck!

The Love Movement you can hear the disconnect as a group, Dilla completely carries it, and that's not a good thing. Either way it had a half dozen classics as you mentioned.
