Trainer who trains amateurs disagreed with me bout Hurd beating Lara

Here's how the convo went

Coach: Yawn you like Hurd but he's only good cause his slim waist

Yawn: What :dame:

Coach: Hurd has a slim waist and thick legs

Yawn: WHAT
full

Coach: He's just mediocre and uses his size advantage to win

Yawn: What does a slim waist have to do with that :dwillhuh:

Coach: His slim waist allows someone that tall with an upper and lower body that big to make 154

Yawn: You saying Hurd's hand speed & sharp counter punching mean nothing, only his slim waist ?

Coach : Yes he only wins cause his slim waist, thick legs and big upper body

Yawn:
full

Trainer further argued and brought up some great points in support of Lara

Such as Lara's amateur pedigree, & unjust defeats vs Canelo and Paul Williams

Trainer harped on that P.Will fight and then said Hurd is just another Williams/Margarito type

It's true Hurd is just as aggressive as both but neither of those

Had Hurd's combination of hand speed + natural power

Lara is facing the type of fighter he stated he needs to face for an exciting fight

Let's hope he's right :whoo:

I don’t think that Canelo vs Lara would be unjust though, close fight, but the right guy won

Ehhh, it was debatable. What kills me is how that fight is yet another example of one of the judges having a lopsided decision that benefits Canelo despite the fight being much closer. I didn't need to hear about Canelo's two positive drug tests to know that he and Golden Boy are dirty.

We been talking about the main event since they revealed it, I'm picking da Black Swift Hurd.

Lara is probably the better boxer, and should win...yet he hasn't faced a threat since Canelo. He hasn't faced much resistance lately at all. Partly because of his ability to neutralize opponents. I got Lara boxing Hurd for the first half of the fight before something gives and Hurd starts to hurt/punish Lara. Hurd either stops Lara or he punishes until the final bell.

I don't think Hurd can outbox him on his best day, and Hurd knows that so I'm expecting Hurd to bring smoke.I could even see Lara landing more punches but Hurd landing the more damaging punches.

For Lara it will possibly be the biggest opponent he faced, physically, since Punisher..Lara will possibly be on his bike and he is going to have to land some of those left hands to keep Hurd off him...actually fukk the left hand..hes going to have to let both his hands go...its amazing to me that Hurd can actually make 154 with his size..there's no doubt hes going in there nearing that light heavyweight limit on fight night

Hurd is all wrong for Lara at this point in his career. I absolutely relish match ups where young powerful swarmers are pitted against older boring fukks that disguise boxing with running and trying not to lose instead of winning. :ohlawd:

Yeah Hurd has his flaws.....He's a slow starter. His defense could be better. He does parry decent and try to slip, but it could be much better.

but then his strengths clearly outweigh his flaws though.................Good chin. Quick hands, good power, relentless, composed. Dude is super determined and will lose rounds to drown you later real bad. He comes on late real good. He fights to stop you. He doesn't plan on decisions. He on that Wilder shyt.

Lara has his flaws and nikkas tend to feel sorry for some of his losses, but they could have been prevented if he would have stood his ground more and punched with authority. He should have knocked out Punisher and he should have beat Canelo 9-3, instead of losing a close fight he had the lead early in. Since then dude been smacking up bums at race tracks and looked average in his last fight since that guy was decent and in his prime.

Lara is ripe for the picking. Hurd has the style and the momentum to do it. The nikka wanted the fight after just having 2 tough fights previously. Dude sees something for real. All he has to look out for from Lara is his straight left. The jab will come sporadically and the uppercut will be there, but Lara won't risk it like that. He knows that nikka gonna start the fight out running. As long as Hurd keeps the pressure up early and invest in the body, he'll eventually pick it up and come on late while Lara will be exhausted.

Lara went life and death with a well past it Angulo and lost clearly to that molesting ass nikka. Struggled twice with Vanes average ass too. :hhh:

Lara will not outbox this nikka. He only wins if he lands some serious heat and takes advantage of Hurd's average ass defense. Lara has the power to do it, but it's not in his mentality though. He will get beat the fukk up in the late rds.

Good breakdown and I hope you gonna be right :lupe:

... but at this point I think Lara cruises to a decision win :ld:
with the last 3-4 rounds getting rough to him but has enough in the tank to finish unlike Trout and Harrison. He will outbox Hurd like Trout did early on but I think he won’t get eaten up like Trout did cause Lara should be harder to hit, so the accumulated damage will add on him later in the last few rounds so he will eventually finish it. If this would be an oldschool 15 round fight I’d pick Hurd.

On the other hand Hurd is still a young dude he is still in the age when he can improve visibly from fight to fight, I hope the Trout fight further improved him and added to his confidence so he might start to break Lara down earlier and wins this.

If Lara does happen to win, it's not gonna be by cruising to a decision. He might limp past the finish line or just about reach it, but he won't be cruising.

Lara is harder to hit than them other nikkas, but he gives up on his own offense to do so. If he didn't, he would have beaten Canelo clean instead of some anti climax ass split decision where he ran all over the place once the going got tough.

Guys like the Michigan 3 (Toney, Bryd, Floyd) who can stand in the pocket and defend and be offensive without being bullied back, are all wrong for guys like Hurd.

nikkas that have to constantly move to get space defensively like Cotto, Lara, C Spinks,Khan etc...are food for guys like Hurd, because that movement just motivates him to stay on your ass and exhaust you.

You discourage pressure. You don't keep inviting it in by giving it space to operate.
