:whoa:( DISCLAIMER: im not a ben carson supporter, i don't even know all of his policies or stances, i'm just asking a question)

I was born in the early 80's and growing up in the south in a 100% black christian environment and I heard these statements all the time:

- marriage is between a man and a woman
- abortion is against god
- homosexuality is against god and the bible
- science and the big bang theory is against god and the bible

I'm talking my parents, my neighbors, people in the church, family members, overheard in the store etc etc etc....

now fast forward to 2015 we're clowning ben carson for saying these things? do black church folks not believe these things any more?

can't lie, watching and reading white liberals shyt all over ben carson for saying these things has me kind of :jbhmm: because they're essentially clowning my family, and the older black people that i grew up around.

First off. Those aren't even the most pertinent issues. Most black people don't really vote on social issues.

Second the reason Ben Carson gets clowned and not your grandma is because your grandma isn't trying to be the President and run the country off easily refutable, non scientific nonsense. You don't want a president making decisions of what God purportedly told him.

And no most black people Christian or otherwise don't believe most of that stuff anyway.

well first off most black people do vote on social issues mainly race. this is not even debatable, you can pull sources that you trust that will confirm this...and african americans have ALWAYS been notoriously apathetic toward foreign relation policies and issues...again look it up, no need to argue or speculate:yeshrug:

secondly, what you're talking about is CONTEXT. the grandmother and ben carson believe the same thing but only one of them is wrong because they are running for president? :jbhmm: again, not trying to argue, just think about what you're saying.

a lot of black people grew up as muslims so I understand they don't believe these things, their reality is different from mine and i respect that. but again, that's what i heard all growing up.

Do your family believe the earth is 6000 years old :lupe:

do your family still live on the plantation my nikka?

You go look it up. You just said that black people are socially conservative. Then how do you explain black peoples propensity to vote democrat?

Black people against abortion, but black people helped put people in office that fight to keep abortion legal.

secondly, what you're talking about is CONTEXT. the grandmother and ben carson believe the same thing but only one of them is wrong because they are running for president? :jbhmm: again, not trying to argue, just think about what you're saying.
Context matters. They are both wrong, but only one deserves ridicule on a national scale.

a lot of black people grew up as muslims so I understand they don't believe these things, their reality is different from mine and i respect that. but again, that's what i heard all growing up.
The religion doesn't matter. Most black people absolutely do not believe in the bible in a literal sense. Some do. Maybe where you grew most do. But on a national level they do not.

1) most black people ARE socially conservative (even though i believe this is changing) but RACE trumps everything. democrats support for minorities and racial equality trumps their alignment with the gay community - again, all of this is documented and none of this is my opinion. simply go look for yourself.

2) if you believe both are wrong that's fine. again, not trying to fight/argue just have a discussion bruh.

3) most black people do believe in the bible in a literal sense, how old are you? I'm in my 30's and I can tell you now that in the 80's and 90's things were seen a lot differently than they are now especially as it pertains to the gay community.

That's economics. Black people support democrat for economy reasons. "Racial equality" is not simply wanting to be called equal with white folks. It's for having equal economic opportunity. Any social issue black people are voting for is directly tied to economics.

You asked why one gets ridiculed and the other doesn't. I simply gave you the answer.

Most black people absolutely do not believe in creationism, or the literal timeline of the bible.

Sure views change over time, but we are talking about 2015 right?

1) nikka check the opinion polls. black people's #1 issue when we vote is race. for the 3rd time, google it. don't argue with me nikka look for yourself.

2) and I said that you're talking CONTEXT. look up the word CONTEXT. two people can't say the exact same thing and only one be right unless you bring CONTEXT into play. we learn this shyt in elementary school my dude, keep up.

3) i haven't been to a church since i was 19 years old and I'm in my 30's...that's why i made the post.

1) race in itself isn't even an issue. How can you vote on race?:dwillhuh:

2. Where did I say only one of them was factually correct?

3.Church isn't the only place black people get their worldview. And even then plenty of churches are progressive.

1) meaning issues that fall under the umbrella of race, are you sitting over there really suggesting that african american voters #1 concern is foreign policy? :comeon: not even being funny man are you 15 years old?

2) in your very first response you said "the reason ben carson gets clowned and the grandmother doesnt..." it's right up there sir just look. i never said you said this, you have to use reading comprehension - I repeatedly say "WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT" - which specifically means the point you are making, not what you BELIEVE.

3) you keep wanting to harp on this point; all i'm saying is that a majority of black people in this country are christians and go to, or have at some point in their life regularly gone to church. now whether you like this, or think this is dumb yada yada...i don't care. i'm just making a point about the reality of life.

and truthfully if you think that most black people DO NOT BELIEVE that GOD created the heavens and the earth, then you are doing some serious A1 trolling sir, or you CLEARLY are not black

1. No, black people vote on economic issues. I said nothing about foreign policy. Race is not an issue. "Issues that fall under race are about economics. That's what "equal opportunity" is about

2. "The reason one gets clowned and the other doesn't" is not the same as saying one is wrong and the other isn't. It's not me who lacks reading comprehension.

A 2 year old saying 2+2=5 wouldn't get clowned, where as an adult would, even though they both got the answer wrong.

3. Black people identify as "Christian" but that does not mean they believe the bible literally. And they definitely don't vote on bible issues.

Using big bold letters doesn't make your argument any more correct :francis:

1) again pull some data to support that argument. we're on the internet, if you refuse to do so then you're admitting to making emotional arguments

2) :mjlol: i think you're confusing yourself on this point my dude. i'm simply saying that black people have believed the same things that ben carson are saying as it relates to faith and belief in GOD for decades, he's just saying them in a different context and all of a sudden there's a problem.

how you read that and felt the need to start an argument at your computer is beyond me :yeshrug:

3) another emotional argument. i'm dealing in facts. it's a fact that an overwhelming majority of black people are christian, arguing that they don't believe in the bible word for word or not is all speculatory, this is something you BELIEVE and FEEL, and is literally impossible to determine.

1.

imrs.php

Race relations is vague and can include all types of stuff including the economy but it sits at 13%. Economy issues are at 40%

Social issues like the ones in the op at 3%

As I said black people don't vote on social issues. Economy is number one.

2. You specifically asked why Ben Carson was getting ridiculed during his presidential run in 2015. Context matters and context is the answer.

3. Views on Human Evolution

55% of black people believe in evolution. And even though 43% believe humans have not evolved, that doesn't necessarily mean they believe in the bible literally word for word.

So no it's not an "emotional argument" it's clearly demonstrable that the majority of black people absolutely do not believe in the bible literally.
