Yet I still can't buy a PS5 retail. I can find a series s no problem. I can find an X if you give me a week. But a PS5 is unicorn status unless you're willing to buy from a reseller.

Wii and Switch did well because they had a appealing gimmick to go along with the low price. Series S is just a standard console.
Xbox by and large is a hardcore gamer brand and most core gamers are not going to settle for the Xbox with worse specs. Series S is a bad value once you realize you will have to buy the SSD expansion due to low space and the lack of horsepower means you won't see the full benefits of a next gen console. If you buying an Xbox, Series X is the way to go.
