When you have a kid, they learn things so fast. From birth to when they're toddlers, then 5 or 6 years old....they absorb a lot. Parents look at them with pride. Look how smart my kid is, and so on...
And I see a lot of parents make the mistake of treating their kids as if they were older. They get frustrated and angry when a kid doesn't know everything or struggles with discipline or controlling their emotions and instincts. I see this all the time.
The point I'm getting to is... I am watching these first few games of Stephon Castle's career and he's had some really good games. He's made some smart plays and had flashy layups and killer jump shots. But he's also made some boneheaded and lazy plays, especially defensively. And I'm sitting here trying to put things into context....kind of like a parent annoyed at their 4 year old kid. Castle has impressed me and frustrated me....and I forget that he's just 19 games into his career.
It's going to take more time.
Also, I don't know what the best offseason move this past summer was, but Harrison Barnes is looking like one of the better decisions in the league.
