Thought this might be an interesting thread idea. I'm a big fan of older movies...not really old; but 50's, 60's and 70's, 80's, etc. Often times, I find myself comparing new actors to old. For instance...


Brad Pitt is the new Robert Redford
Hugh Jackman is the new Clint Eastwood
Jennifer Lawrence is the new Julia Roberts
Denzel Washington is the new Sidney Poitier


Feel free to add on...if its a really wild comparison, add a reason next to it...they look like such and such, or they have similar mannerisms, take on similar roles, etc.

OP is on point with Pitt if we are going on looks alone. Watching old Redford movies it's kinda shocking seeing how much he looked like Pitt looks now.

I think Timothy Olyphant is the new Clint Eastwood. He has that "thing" in Justified that not many guys can legit pull off. I doubt he'll ever be a massive movie star, but I really hope after Justified ends he and Walton Goggins find some great stuff to do.

I think I could watch those two in any setting. They could do buddy cop films..just they way they talk to one another makes it entertaining.

I was rewatching 3 Days of the Condor and thinking it is almost like Brad Pitt is trying to be Robert Redford.


I think Jennifer L. is ten times better than Julia R. I think Julia R is perhaps the most overrated actress/star in movie history. She's not that hot or pretty and she isn't much of an actress IMO. Just have never understood that. But it probably is a good comparison, because like it or not Julia R had a long career and made the money etc.

My problem is, I am so into serial television now it is hard for me to get into most movies. My brain is all into that long story arc vs a 2 hour movie....so my frame of reference is off.
