If a new report by Film Divider is to be believed, the producers behind the G.I. Joe film series have some pretty ambitious plans up their sleeves. They've all ready shown that they're not scared to majorly tweak the series on-the-fly. The differences between the first and second movies were vast. They even delayed the second film and scheduled extensive reshoots when fans demanded more Channing Tatum. So the following rumors wouldn't come as too much of a surprise, considering their desire to please the masses.
For starters, the site is claiming that a couple of classic characters will act as villains in the third film. Tomax and Xamot, the nefarious twin brothers from the original TV series would get a big-screen update in the new film.
But the more interesting tidbit is that there'd be a crossover in the film. Now, we can't get too excited, since fans really seemed to be intrigued by a G.I. Joe Meets Transformers mash-up. But it looks like the producers heard that idea and decided to bring in M.A.S.K.
M.A.S.K. (short for Mobile Armored Strike Kommand)was that other animated series from the 80s that had transforming vehicles in them. Of course, there was more to the series- which the site accurately describes as a sci-fi Mission: Impossible Meets Fast & Furious. According to their report, Matt Trakker is currently scheduled to appear in G.I. Joe 3. Trakker is the main character from M.A.S.K.
While M.A.S.K. spawned from a Kenner toyline, Kenner was eventually bought up by Hasbro- who also own G.I. Joe. Even though they also own Transformers, this crossover was probably easier to put together.
