There is no such thing as school of excellence. Schools are only a reflection of the students in them. If the students challenge themselves then that will transfer to school performance.
The examples were bizarre. Mastery Charter only has 71% of the students meeting reading standards. Providence St Mel tests students before admissions and only admits the top ones (which I agree with). Thurgood Marshall admitted that 13% of their grads had dropped out of college less than two years after graduating from high school. Frederick Douglas and View Park didn't give any examples of how the students were achieving. Kipp only compared itself to neighboring schools which I assume are low performing.
Anyone can get into a college if they apply, so why even mention that as an achievement. If you want your child to excel in academics, they need to teach themselves at home. Most school standards are too low.
