The Jamal James-Thomas Dulorme fight finally is official.

FOX and Premier Boxing Champions announced the rescheduled James-Dulorme match Thursday as the main event of the broadcast network’s August 8 card from Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. Las Vegas’ Dulorme (25-3-1, 16 KOs) and Minneapolis’ James (26-1, 12 KOs) will fight for the WBA interim welterweight title.

Dulorme and James were supposed to headline a “FOX PBC Fight Night” broadcast April 11 from The Armory in Minneapolis, but their 12-round, 147-pound title fight was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Fans cannot attend the August 8 card due to coronavirus restrictions.

The Dulorme-James show was the only upcoming FOX telecast that was announced Thursday.

“We’re thrilled to have PBC back on FOX, FS1 and FOX Deportes, headlined by this great main event between Jamal James and Thomas Dulorme,” said Tom Brown, president of TGB Promotions. “James has proven that he is amongst the top welterweights in the world and he will again have a chance to show his credentials against a tough opponent in Dulorme. Combined with a stacked undercard of fights featuring rising stars and more, this lineup should deliver great action for fans all night long on August 8.”

FOX’s coverage will begin August 8 at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT with three fights on free TV (see full schedule below). Later that night, FS1 will air three fights from that same card.

PBC fights on FS1 usually air before coverage switches to FOX, but the order is reversed for FOX’s first boxing telecast since March 7.

James, 32, will look to extend his six-fight winning streak against Dulorme.

“I’m excited and ready to be getting back in the ring after everything happening these last [few] months,” James said. “Thomas Dulorme is a strong opponent, and I feel that we will be giving boxing fans a great night of action. Training has gone extremely well, and I am more than prepared to secure this victory.”

Dulorme, 30, will attempt to move into contention for a bigger welterweight title bout in the native Puerto Rican’s sixth appearance since Terence Crawford stopped him in the sixth round of their WBO junior welterweight title fight in April 2015.

“I have been in training camp now for over four months for this fight, and I can’t wait to get in the ring and put on a spectacular performance,” Dulorme said. “The delay only makes me more motivated. James is a good fighter, but I am on a different level and it will show on August 8. I will put on the best performance of my career and win the WBA title.”

Manny Pacquiao, who owns the WBA “super” welterweight title, is recognized as that sanctioning organization’s true 147-pound champion.

James is the WBA’s fifth-ranked welterweight contender. Dulorme is rated 11th by the WBA.

The entire schedule for the FOX and FS1 coverage of the James-Dulorme card is listed below.

FOX To Reveal Upcoming Fights During James-Dulorme Show August 8
By Keith Idec

Published On Thu Jul 30, 2020, 04:02 PM EST

The “FOX PBC Fight Night” show August 8 won’t just feature three live fights from Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.

Premier Boxing Champions also will announce its full slate of fights for the remainder of the summer and fall during that broadcast. At least four more “FOX PBC Fight Night” cards, one FOX Pay-Per-View event and 12 FS1 telecasts are likely to be revealed as part of a telecast that’ll feature welterweights Jamal James and Thomas Dulorme in the 12-round main event for the WBA interim 147-pound championship.

An August 22 show on FOX, which will match former IBF/WBC welterweight champ Shawn Porter against Sebastian Formella in the main event, will be among the fights announced that night. A FOX Pay-Per-View event that’ll be headlined by IBF/WBC welterweight champ Errol Spence Jr. and Danny Garcia also is expected to be announced during the telecast August 8.

FOX officially announced its August 8 tripleheader Thursday, as well as a three-fight FS1 show that’ll immediately follow live coverage of the James-Dulorme match. In its announcement, FOX noted that the rest of its 2020 schedule will be unveiled during its show on free TV.

FOX initially intended to publicize its full slate of PBC cards Thursday along with its official announcement of its August 8 event. Al Haymon, PBC’s founder, and FOX executives instead decided to reveal those shows during that broadcast a week from Saturday night.

“FOX Sports is thrilled to welcome PBC back into the ring August 8 with a fantastic matchup,” Bill Wanger, FOX Sports’ executive vice president, head of programming and scheduling, said in FOX’s press release. “This outing is the first in a long line of great fight nights coming for the remainder of the year on FOX, FS1, FOX Deportes and PPV.”

Spence-Garcia is the most noteworthy fight FOX is expected to announce August 8.

Their 12-round fight for Spence’s two welterweight titles likely will take place sometime in November. It’ll mark Spence’s first fight since suffering lacerations to his face and body and dental damage in a one-car accident October 10 in downtown Dallas.

The 30-year-old Spence (26-0, 21 KOs), of DeSoto, Texas, has fully recovered from injuries incurred when his Ferrari flipped multiple times while traveling at a high rate of speed. Dallas policed charged Spence on October 16 with a misdemeanor count of driving while intoxicated once he was released from Methodist Dallas Medical Center.

Before Spence’s car crash, Philadelphia’s Garcia (36-2, 21 KOs) was supposed to challenge the powerful southpaw in a FOX Pay-Per-View main event January 25. Garcia, 32, instead beat Ukraine’s Ivan Redkach (23-5-1, 18 KOs, 1 NC) by unanimous decision that night in a 12-round fight Showtime televised from Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

Spence hasn’t boxed since September 28, when he dropped Porter in the 11th round and won their 12-round, 147-pound title unification bout by split decision at Staples Center in Los Angeles.

Las Vegas’ Porter (30-3-1, 17 KOs) will be heavily favored to beat Germany’s Formella (22-0, 10 KOs). The IBF strangely ranked Formella one spot ahead of Porter in its 147-pound ratings, but the 33-year-old contender will take a huge step up in class when he opposes Porter at Microsoft Theater.

i dont see him as a champion, but he’s a good boxer

dulorme got his shyt together late...after his initial hype wore off

abregu and t-craw had their hands full with him before stopping him....actually more t-craw than abregu

he should have got the nod over jessie vargas and gave ugas all kinds of trouble

he is due to possibly to cause an upset very soon

Mykal Fox On Standby For FOX’s Dulorme-James Main Event Saturday Night
By Keith Idec

Published On Tue Aug 4, 2020, 08:21 PM EST

It wouldn’t be how he’d want to land his first world title fight, but Mykal Fox is ready anyway.

BoxingScene.com has learned that Fox would be Premier Boxing Champions’ replacement for Thomas Dulorme or Jamal James if either welterweight were to test positive for COVID-19 or were otherwise unable to fight Saturday night in Los Angeles. Las Vegas’ Dulorme (25-3-1, 16 KOs) and Minneapolis’ James (26-1, 12 KOs) are scheduled to fight for the WBA interim welterweight title in the main event of FOX’s three-bout broadcast, which will start at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT from Microsoft Theater.

As part of PBC’s protocols for all of its upcoming shows on FOX and Showtime, Fox has agreed to fight Dulorme or James on short notice if either fighter falls out of the 12-round main event. All 14 boxers scheduled to appear on that card Saturday night are slated to take their final pre-fight COVID-19 tests Friday.

mykal-fox_1.jpg

The 24-year-old Fox (22-1, 5 KOs), of Upper Marlboro, Maryland, is scheduled to face Lucas Santamaria (10-1-1, 7 KOs), of Garden Grove, California, in a 10-round welterweight bout on the Dulorme-James card. Fox-Santamaria will be the last of three fights FS1 will air after FOX’s coverage of the three-bout broadcast headlined by Dulorme-James.

Fox is ranked 13th by the WBA at 147 pounds and thus would be eligible to fight for the interim welterweight title for which the fifth-ranked James and the 10th-ranked Dulorme are set to compete. Manny Pacquiao (62-7-2, 39 KOs) is the WBA’s legitimate welterweight champion.

The 6-feet-3½ Fox has lost only a 10-round unanimous decision to powerful southpaw Shohjahon Ergashev (18-0, 16 KOs) in February 2019. Fox defeated another highly touted, left-handed prospect from Uzbekistan, Fazliddin Gaibnazarov (8-1, 5 KOs), by 10-round unanimous decision in the fight after he lost to Ergashev in May 2019.

Fox’s fights against Ergashev and Gaibnazarov officially were contested within the welterweight division, but closer to the junior welterweight limit of 140 pounds than the welterweight maximum of 147.

Al Haymon’s PBC and TGB Promotions put its contingency plan to use immediately last week while quickly rearranging its first show since the COVID-19 pandemic temporarily halted the boxing business in mid-March.

Tramaine Williams replaced Stephen Fulton in Showtime’s main event last Wednesday, when Fulton tested positive for COVID-19. Angelo Leo (20-0, 9 KOs), who was supposed to fight Fulton, instead defeated Williams (19-1, 6 KOs, 1 NC) by unanimous decision Saturday night in their 12-round, 122-pound championship match and won the then-vacant WBO junior featherweight title at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut.

Before he took that title fight on three days’ notice, Williams was supposed to face Ra’eese Aleem in Showtime’s co-featured bout before the Fulton-Leo match. Marcus Bates replaced Williams as Aleem’s opponent in a 12-round, 122-pound WBA elimination match Aleem (17-0, 11 KOs) won by 10th-round technical knockout after Bates (11-2-1, 8 KOs) suffered an injury to his right wrist.

Before the pandemic this fight would have had a countdown training camp show, a one on one face off show, interviews on the inside pbc desk show and promo online and commercials on fox.

Now all we have are commercials. They can’t even get a camera crew in front of them, damn.

Thomas Dulorme and Jamal James made weight Friday almost four months after they initially were supposed to fight.

Minneapolis’ James officially weighed 145.8 pounds for their 12-round, 147-pound title fight Saturday night at Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. Las Vegas’ Dulorme stepped on the California State Athletic Commission’s scale at 146.2 pounds.

James, 32, and Dulorme, 30, will fight for the WBA interim welterweight title in the main event of FOX’s tripleheader.

thomas-dulorme_1.jpg

Dulorme (25-3-1, 16 KOs) and James (26-1, 12 KOs) originally were supposed to fight April 11 at The Armory in Minneapolis. That event was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

James is the WBA’s fifth-ranked welterweight contender. Dulorme is rated 10th by the WBA.

Earlier Friday, Lennox Allen and David Morrell Jr. met their contractual obligations for the first fight FOX will air as part of a telecast set to start at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT.

Brooklyn’s Allen (22-0-1, 14 KOs) came in at 166.8 pounds for their 12-round fight. Cuba’s Morrell (2-0, 2 KOs) weighed in at 164.6 pounds.

Allen, 35, and Morrell, 22, are set to fight for the WBA interim super middleweight title. The WBA has ranked Allen number one among its 168-pound contenders, two spots atop the third-rated Morrell.

Also Friday, Omar Juarez (7-0, 4 KOs) and Willie Shaw (12-1, 8 KOs) made weight for an eight-round junior welterweight fight FOX will televise between the Dulorme-James and Allen-Morrell matches.

The 21-year-old Juarez, of Brownsville, Texas, weighed 140.6 pounds. The 28-year-old Shaw, of Vallejo, California, came in at 140.4 pounds.

The official weights for the remainder of Saturday’s card are listed below. Those fights will be broadcast by FS1, which will begin its coverage at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT or later if FOX’s coverage ends after FS1’s scheduled start time.

Mykal Fox (22-1, 5 KOs), Upper Marlboro, Maryland, 145.8 pounds vs. Lucas Santamaria (10-1-1, 7 KOs), Garden Grove, California, 145.8 pounds, 10 rounds, welterweights.

Vito Mielnicki Jr. (5-0, 3 KOs), Roseland, New Jersey, 147.8 pounds vs. Chris Rollins (3-1, 2 KOs), Charlottsville, Virginia, 147.4 pounds, 6 rounds, welterweights.

Luis Pena (6-0, 6 KOs), Ventura, California, 232 pounds vs. Michael Coffie (9-0, 6 KOs), Brooklyn, 279 pounds, 6 rounds, heavyweights.
