I got in some thing with a girl I know, she watched a few of my recommendations, and I agreed to watch this…I'm at about 47 minutes in. It's the equivalent of a Hype Williams music video, except the fantasy at hand is not swaggering gangsters in tropical paradises flaunting jewelry….It's a fantasy of hedge fund millionaires who fly helicopters to immaculately designed penthouse condos full of leather and lace and leather furniture…..so it all LOOKS good, in a superficial and beautiful, if safe way. Thats where is stops. The script and acting, besides Dakota Johnson in spots is indefensible….which is largely due to the source material, which must be beyond abysmal, careening towards a new genre of thinly disguised erotic fiction for teenage girls and housewives alike…..The dialogue is offensively stupid and boring…I am torn because I have to seriously question the intelligence of anyone (women in this case) who finds this trash entertaining or exciting, sexual or otherwise…yet as long as they are reading maybe there is hope….
