TRENTON — Shots were fired Tuesday afternoon at the funeral of a teenager who was gunned down in the city two weeks ago.

The Rev. Dr. John Harris Jr., pastor of Galilee Baptist Church, had almost completed the eulogy for 19-year-old homicide victim Cagney Roberts when shots rang out. Witnesses gave accounts varying from four to nine shots. At least one woman was take out on a stretcher, and police sources said there were at least two people shot. More than 30 law enforcement officers arrived on the scene at the 400 block of Martin Luther King Blvd, as witnesses ran from the church in tears.

Two guns were laying in the parking lot at the corner of Pennington Avenue and MLK Boulevard. Police would not say if the shots were fired inside or outside the church.

Police Director Ralph Rivera also came to the scene to lead the investigation.

More than 75 people gathered outside the hospital that evening to mourn the young man’s passing.

this is why the black church needs to take a more militant stand in the community:troll:
