The problem with that video is Prof. Reich is arguing against a plan that has already been rejected overwhelmingly by the Senate and does not exist in any way shape or form anywhere but in the dreams of Paul Ryan himself.
All of the arguments against Ran's plan (actually proposal would be a better term) are disingenuous anyway because they tend to ignore the way Congress works. In a world where the two ruling parties were not completely dedicated to destroying one another a proposal like Ryan's (if it had any hopes of being passed which this one never did in our reality) would go through many rounds of negotiating and fine tuning that in the end would result in a plan that looked nothing like the one that passed the House and that Prof. Reich spent his time critiquing. As it stands, since the Dems have control of the Senate, Ryan's plan was a non-starter from jump and never had a shot at being anything more than that.

I think the point of the vid is more to show how that plan, regardless of whether it can be implemented or not, doens't make economic sense. I don't know how it is in the US, but voters tend to vote on what the candidate says, not on whether what he says is actually doable.

The fact that the Dems control Senate makes it even easier actually, should Romney-Ryan be elected (which is highly doubt will happen), they can then say "See! This great plan that you voted for is being blocked by the socialist/communist/elite blahblahblah..." even though the plan in itself makes no sense. That's exactly what happened here in Belgium with the Flemish separatist party.

But it is a bunch of misdirected nonsense to focus on a failed proposal by the VP pick when Mitt Romney, the guy actually running for president, has had that 59 point plan for jobs and economic growth floating around since September.

I hear you, and I admit not knowing much about Romney's plan. I did however read/hear that Ryan's plan was really the one that would be used, but whatever. Whoever's plan it is, if it's anything like what that economist said it is, it's a bad one. I just had a quick look at Romney's plan and it seems to be in that general directin (Less taxes, less public spending, less government...)...But that's besides the point actually, voters will hear the "less taxes" part and think that actually benefits ALL of them :aicmon:

Obama wants to cut reimbursement to doctors and hospitals, that's really nice.

I want everyone to pay their fair share, so I like increases in taxes on the middle class and the rich. There's too much subsidies and tax credits.
