I wonder how many voters had voted already before the incident?
nobody fukking cared, breh :yeshrug: it wasn't even trump who said the joke

in hindsight, treating that like some watershed moment might be the most perfectly embarrassing encapsulation of liberals today that we could possibly think of :laff:

I need these election results studied, everything about this election goes against general polling science. How did Amy Klobachar get 150k more votes than Harris in MN? Legitimately doesn't make sense to me
people are struggling out here and they dont like biden which by extension includes Kamala. Everywhere you go you see people talking about inflation and gas prices. Kamala didn't do enough to separate herself, dems even have memes about kamala word salad.

Overall you have a cult personality vs someone who was disliked and says she won't change anything about one of the most disliked president's in modern history. Globally, incumbents who were in power during inflation lost or were at great risk.

I wanted to keep my points within my immediate area of expertise, and also not just the general, but DA Gascon in LA lost, San Francisco mayor lost. and give a concrete example of that reality/lived reality kind of dynamic.

And including somewhere like AZ in there. People for sure saw that in Phoenix. That's a fentanyl hot spot. and a swing state. esp. the suburbs. Somewhere like Nevada, I don't know as well, but my guess is you see that there too.

I think the point is there is no narrative that rings true across the board. Dems in the battleground states did well. It's hard to compare these things to local races too. I live in LA and I really couldn't tell you anything about Gascon.:yeshrug:

This is from Ben Rhodes piece:

would never claim to have all the answers about what went wrong, but I do worry that Democrats walked into the trap of defending the very institutions — the “establishment” — that most Americans distrust. As a party interested in competent technocracy, we lost touch with the anger people feel at government. As a party that prizes data, we seized on indicators of growth and job creation as proof that the economy was booming, even though people felt crushed by rising costs. As a party motivated by social justice, we let revulsion at white Christian nationalism bait us into identity politics on their terms — whether it was debates about transgender athletes, the busing of migrants to cities, or shaming racist MAGA personalities who can’t be shamed. As a party committed to American leadership of a “rules-based international order,” we defended a national security enterprise that has failed repeatedly in the 21st century, and made ourselves hypocrites through unconditional military support for Israel’s bombardment of civilians in Gaza.

what if he does, though? what if he brings down diesel, and gives them a nice tax break, and they tangibly see that happen?

this is the thing that Democrats are having a hard time dealing with. what if he DOES help your cousins? will they still have been wrong to have voted for him? or is it then OK to admit that they had every right to vote for him, and it paid off?

the era of Dems thinking they're "owed" votes from minorities, because republicans are the worse white people, might be over :dead:

Either he helps them or they suffer for being dumb. Both are a win for me… :manny:

what the hell does this even mean? :dead: no it hasn't. it's been shyt since 2021
Are u serious?

The whole reason people learned Black Rock and private equity where buying so many homes were the 08 crisis.

The Fed didn’t keep interest rates low cause the economy just bounced back.

Half a generation of people just grew up thinking under 4% fed interest rates was normal because the economy wasn’t on stable ground for well over a decade.

No. because your people would vote against their own benefit to control what a small minority group that has zero effect on their lives gets to do. It means they are hateful and nasty people.

You pretend you voted for Kamala so you can come here and talk shyt, but you are probably in the same boat as your people.

i don't think most people thought the housing market was "shyt" 5 years ago, but OK :yeshrug: if you say so

covid clearly fukked it up a lot more, between the inflation, interest rates, and WFH allowing so many people to move (like me :mjlol:)

The through line is the denial of people's lived realities, using the crime thing, which I do think was a factor, but comparing that to the constant CPRI stats about the economy.

Not saying the fent thing or the crime thing is true across the national board, but the trend in all of California speaks to that.

The mayor in SD held on, but faced a challenge from that exact same place. The other guy was running one crime and homelessness as a single issue essentially. Gascon, was widely considered incompetent, internally, and from other DA's office, including San Diego. But, also very soft on crime. The most progressive DA ever in Los Angeles. He was flanked by an indepedent, Nathan Hotchman, former R, who basically ran on crime being up.
