True, I thought they were going to push Biden out and put someone like Newsome in his place. He seemed to have been getting more national recognition, and he looks the part. Personally, I really like Buttigeig.

I don't buy Newsom faring any better. Republicans point to California as everything wrong with the country, and having the Governor of that state run against Trump would have seen more red meat being thrown at his base.

They thought it would be a good thing and had to get corrected. There are millions of people like that. Most of the country dont know anything about economics which is why Trump can fake it til he make it.

Before the election, I would have agreed with you. But after looking at the results, I think it’s a mix of both. when I look at how many Dem voters sat out this election, the number of minorities who shifted to Trump, Kamala getting a bigger share of the white vote, then racism/sexism as the sole cause becomes increasingly less likely.

Maybe we need to be charitable and take these voters at their word even if their perceptions of reality is wrong.

The economic anxiety stuff is not even rooted in fact or rationality, just feels. Did my dollar go further in 2019 than 2024? No. then let’s go back to Trump.

Will be a while before we get accurate numbers, but at face value the people most stressed by the economy went for kamala.

Yeah but the maga base ain't the main problem. The main problem is most people want change, independent of what that looks like. Trump lost almost entirely bc of how he handled covid. Biden, bc of inflation & white identity politics. A white face echoing Obamas rhetoric would have hit way different than a mixed queen saying she wouldn't change much from Biden.

Yep. I also asked why the democrats gave such a big tent and who should be in it going forward.

Muslims and Arabs have tainted their status in the party and I think democrats should let them go. They are religious conservatives ego are often regressive and incongruent with the West. We can try to regain Latinos but there is no upside to trying to appeal to Muslims ands Israelis/Jews both anymore. Jews still support Democrats.

I'm saying there are millions of people that don't know anything about economics, are very reactive and gullible to misinformation. These aren't all your diehard MAGA people. They are regular people of all races. You have to educate them for months and years. Yes, some of them might stay on for other reasons, but other could be converted.

The trans issue was the biggest ad run trump did and it speaks to something essential that stops other convos from being had. People do not support that community, their stance on child transition or pariipcation in girls sports.

You can’t have it both ways. Do you support child gender transitions or trans participation in girls sports or surgeries in jails for gender affirmation?

Which is it? Either it’s not an issue or you support it.
