The point of the tweet was that $1.5 trillion is enormous amount of cash and we could do anything with it that improves the country over a 10 year period.

I notice you didn't say anything about infrastructure or rebuilding Puerto Rico or funding the Children's Health Insurance Program for over a century with that cash.

Universal Pre-school alone would help a lot of low-income families who can't afford child care to take more hours of work without having to worry about the absurd costs of child care. I'll come back at some point and write a longer post, but UPS is actually massively helpful to poor families for a number of reasons. Remember, these kids would also be fed at pre-school, too, which would mean that parents get a free meal + snack for five days of the week. Think about it outside of just "teaching kids some shyt," and it will be clearer how being able to put your three-year-old kid in school and being able to take extra hours at work without having to shoulder the massive cost of child care for that kid is huge. Then, multiply that by literally hundreds of thousands of families.

Free college, though, I'm less a fan of.

None of this is free.

You and I would be paying for it.

WE would be paying for it.

Yeah, no shyt. That's how social programs work.

I'm doing pretty well and I don't have kids, but I am glad to pay a bit more for any program like UPS that would disproportionately help poor folks, and especially poor black families.

If you’re going to invest trillions of taxpayer dollars into something, you better be able to prove that it’s going toward something extremely useful that is going to benefit both society AS WELL as the economy long term.

I am curious to know how high ‘free preschool for all’ is on your list. Because I will be honest it is not even on mine.

we'll add economics to the list of things you don't understand

We already have the freedom to donate to less fortunate people. We are free to donate to the people and the causes that we choose.

I don't think the government, a factually corrupt body, should be making those choices on our behalf.

Why would his friends rat him out to CBS in the first place?
It's not ratting him out. It's a factually true statement. Everyone knows the wealthy and corporations gained a massive amount of money from this tax bill.

Trump and Republicans have already said as much and have said this was by design.

Why are you so emotional?

I merely posted an Article. What's there to argue about?

Not every piece of information is meant for scrutiny. Sometimes it's just for consumption. Like food.

The fact that you're attempting to provoke an argument about news sourcing over an article you feel is unflattering of Trump on Christmas Eve leads me to believe you don't have many friends or family who want to spend time with you. :youmadcam:

Also, glad you posted, I can now put you back on ignore after WOAT/MOD voting is over. :DameMJLol:

There is no rule that says the government is more corrupt than private or non-profit bodies, so this is a nonsense argument.

Further, the voters pick their government, so if we vote for a dude that says that he'll institute UPS, we've made that choice by voting for the dude and the other members of his party. You don't know how a representative government works, do you?

(Yes, I know that you can talk about lobbying and corporate overreach in steering politics as well as voter disenfranchisement, and those are important and very real issues, but at its core, this government pretty much represents the people who vote. See 2016, when white people wanted a government run by white supremacists even if their taxes went up, and they got...a government run by white supremacists who raised their taxes.)
