image didn't work, do you pay property taxes or have a state income tax that you pay?

That's where they're screwing most people /
i dont know how true this is, tbh. and correct me if im wrong

you can still deduct up to 10k in property tax; most people dont pay more than that. you cant deduct your state taxes anymore, but the individual deduction went up 6 grand. most people dont pay more than 6 grand in state taxes

the people who are about to really get bent over live in NY, cali, NJ and make a couple hundred thousand a year. they got fukkED. but as far as the average american?

theyll be taking less out of your paychecks starting in january :yeshrug: assuming you get a tax cut

i wouldnt count on that.
its gonna take more than 9 days for payroll functions to update with new rules/rates.
accountants and IT people actually take Christmas and New years off too
especially since spring is their busy season [for accountants]

only 7 states dont have income tax.
everybody else does.

property is real estate and automobiles last i filed in va and ct

plus they increased the basic deduction
but took away the per person exemption.

as far as i know they took away the mortgage interest deduction also

the charitible contribution deduction

the excessive medical expenses deduction

the "average american" may get a few bucks out of this [for a a couple of years]

this isnt a win for the "average american"

i mean i know this is the coli where everybody is 6 certs and 6 figures but....

You can still deduct 10k in property taxes and if I read the last updated article correctly possibly include your state/local taxes. Again though 10k in property taxes isn't that out of the norm and the larger negative effects on home values should be kept in mind.
The business insider article I shared recently highlighted the percentage of houses paying over 10k a year in property taxes in some areas and it was in the 50% range. My girl works part time and doesn't make much and has already paid around 5k in local and state taxes so far this year.

I understand people who live in NY, Cali, and NJ aren't real Americans or whatever, Bro, but the bottom rungs of the tax brackets got crumbs tax folks are talking about $60 a year in savings, and they didn't do anything for child care benefits and they're about to ruin their health insurance.
