Shelby American is offering two new tuning packages for the 2013 Ford Shelby GT500. The coupe and convertible models could get the upgrades. However, the Super Snake packages will be given to only 500 cars. What Shelby American does is give the standard 2013 Ford Shelby GT500 some black or white stripes, either black or silver 20-inch Shelby wheels, a new fiberglass Shelby hood, and a smattering of red embroidered Shelby logos on the headrests and floor mats. A two-tone leather interior is optional. Among the mechanical improvements are a short-shift kit, new suspension components, a louder Borla exhaust, and Wilwood brakes with six-piston front calipers and cross-drilled brake discs. The factory 2013 Ford Shelby GT500 is already powerful with an output of 662 hp from its supercharged 5.8-liter V-8 engine. Still, it got an upgrade. Consumers can decide to add a new Whipple or Kenne Bell supercharger, together with improved radiators and cooling parts that raise the power to 850 hp. Shelby American said that this output is incredible but it wants to assure buyers that this vehicle can be legally driven on the streets and that it uses normal gasoline. The package to get the 662-hp version is available for $28,995 while that of the 850-hp version costs $39,995. Of course, you still have to buy the new 2013 Shelby GT500, which could set the customers back by $54,995 for the coupe and $59,995 for the convertible. Destination charges are included in these prices.
