Yup, that was a magical year for him.

his run was remarkable

from 1980 with the Dirty Mind album to 1987 with his Sign O' The Times album, he couldn't lose with the music.

the man wrote, produced, and arranged hit records and classic songs and albums for himself and others.

truly one of the greatest artist to ever embrace music.

I was gonna say this too. The entire decade of the 80s he didn't miss. 1980 through 1989. Not to mention selling 4mil records with 1999 and then coming back immediately and doing 13mil records with Purple Rain. Just insane.

2 hour concerts. Legendary sound checks. He couldn't be stopped.

Mike was incredible but he wasn't writing, arranging & producing for other artists the way Prince did during his Thriller (82-83) run
Don't sleep though

Mike composed the piano riff on This Place hotel..he had piano skills...above average skills in fact and came up with that bassline..and arranged it.

He was good at telling people where in the song certain parts needed to go.

He couldn't play guitar but he had good ear for telling the person to put a part in a particular spot.

Billie Jean was basically Mike as the final sounded like the demo by Mike.

Quincy took half credit on Billie Jean as revenge for Mike janking Greg pillanges out his Co writing credit.on 'Don't Stop till'...Greg was supposed to get 10%.
