I think some of the best films of all time take place in 1970s NYC, post some that you'd recommend.

A movie like Taxi Driver for instance (whose 40th anniversary was two days ago), is a great time capsule of grimy 1970s New York. The French Connection and Dog Day Afternoon are also classics. I wasn't crazy about Mean Streets though, I don't think the plot/acting are as strong as in the other movies I mentioned.

The 70s was also the first decade in my opinion, whose movies don't seem dated today.

Somewhat related, but I noticed that 70s cinema is a huge change from the decade prior

I watched a trailer for Midnight Cowboy, from 1969, and its vibe is completely different from even movies from a few years later. Everyone sounds like Walter Cronkite
