Help I want to upgrade my old 2500k.

Right now there are great deals on these processors and I want to buy one now.

I want to buy for gaming / streaming and possibly video editing and programming.

Which one will last me for at least 5 years

It really depends on how much you want to spend. If I were to put them in a list of terms of what I would recommend, I would actually skip the 7th gen from Intel unless you can really get a good deal on them new...most likely not.

i7 8700K
i5 8600K
Ryzen 1700
Ryzen 1600 or i5 8400 are pretty close. Get whatever is cheaper.

Skip the "X" CPUs with Ryzen...they are so damn similar in performance that if you want to sweat it out just overclock the regular models.

So you're saying you good with an i5?

I still have a 3570k :flabbynsick:

What chips can I just throw into my current motherboard coming from this? I want to upgrade, but if I need to get a new motherboard to do so, I don't know.

Sounds like a custom build so you can go up to a 3770K, but at this point I would just stick it out if its still serving you well.

Will need a new board and DDR4 RAM at this point with either Ryzen or Intel 8th gen.

Yeah DDR4 RAM is expensive as fukk right now too. Might as well just wait it out till things calm down a bit.

I'm more than likely not going to upgrade this machine any further... might just build a completely new machine. I mean seeing how much the high end processors run, then I'll have to get a new motherboard anyway... no point in swappin' parts out
