I was training for a half marathon a few years ago, and fractured the top of my foot (I was dumb and put off buying new shoes). I got myself up to 8 miles when the injury happened :sadcam:

Out of commission for 6 months or so. I've been freaked out about starting a program again, but I really need something to work towards. More about health, but also not becoming :flabbynsick:

There's a Marathon in May that also has a 10 mile urban run added in. I'm hoping that if I make this thread, it might keep me more accountable. I'm going to start a 10 week 10k novice training on 12/30.

After I'm finished with that, I'm going to the 15k/10 mile 10 week intermediate program :patrice:

I've been in the gym doing cardio and weights over the past few months some, and did my first actual run today (only 2 miles). Have to start somewhere! I'll post progress and info.

Legs finally feeling good enough to run today. 2.5 miles today, 26 degrees out :damn:

Pace is still :flabbynsick: but I actually shaved some off of my last run which was shorter distance. I'll post screenshots of pace later when I'm running more often. One more run this week, and I'll have done as many as I need to start the actual training soon.

My buddy ran a 10k a year or two ago.
I think he did it just over 45 minutes... I thought that was good but he said that time sucked ass.

I don't know how long it takes people to run a 15k

Welp, that's where everyone is different. He was running a 7.25 minute mile for 6.2 miles. That doesn't suck ass at all. When I was at my previous mentioned, I was running a 9 minute mile for 8 miles. It's frustrating to know that people can run much faster than me, but I have to remember that I'm 5'1 among other things.

I'm not sure where I want my personal best goal to be at, but I just want to keep improving!

:salute: keep me posted. Progress and motivation from others makes me want to do better myself!

That being said, I'm not sore at all today, so I'm going to go do my 3rd of this week now. 19 degrees.... :whew: I am honestly happier with it cold than hot though.

I think he just demanded more from himself @BillCosbyAteMyHomework
He wanted to be under 40 minutes for his 10K.

Still, I think the time is irrelevant.
Running 5k, 10k, whatever...if you're running, you're getting a workout and burning calories and that's what is important.

9 minute miles is better than being on the couch.

Stick with it, girl.

Welp, this week was supposed to be my first week on true program schedule. I did my run Tues (2) and Wed got hit with a nasty flu/cough. I have slept more the past few days with aches. Of course. I should be back 100% by Monday (hopefully!) and can just start week 1 again.
