A Mexico vs. Puerto Rico battle is official.

The path to Jaime Munguia securing a middleweight title shot continues on Nov. 13 when he takes on Gabriel Rosado, live on DAZN (excluding Mexico). A venue will be announced shortly.

Munguia and Rosado fought on the same card back in the middle of June, when Rosado notched a "Knockout of the Year" candidate over Bektemir Melikuziev in the third round. Munguia stepped up in the event's headliner and stopped Kamil Szeremeta in the sixth round. After their respective fights, Munguia and Rosado made it clear they wanted one another next, and now they will get to prove who is the better of the two.

"This fight will be full of non-stop action. It will be a war that fight fans will enjoy and a new exciting chapter in the classic Mexico vs. Puerto Rico boxing rivalry," said Oscar De La Hoya, chairman, and CEO of Golden Boy in a press release. "Both fighters are coming off of spectacular performances and knock-out victories that showed their power, speed, and resilience. Jaime Munguia is a super-star; he has all the elements that make a fighter great. He's already conquered the junior middleweight division and is on his way to conquer the middleweight division. But this is going to be a big test for him because Gabriel Rosado is a dangerous fighter, he has never backed down from a challenge. He has faced and gone the distance with some of the toughest fighters in the middleweight division. This is truly a 'Fight of the Year' contender, a fight that fans will remember for years to come."

Munguia (37-0, 30 KOs) knows what Rosado brings to the table and looks forward to showing he's the better of the two.

“Rosado is a dangerous fighter with a lot of experience,” Munguia said in a press release. “He is a formidable rival that we have to prepare to be stronger and more intelligent in the ring. He has had the opportunity to fight with great fighters, the best in the middleweight division. I am going to give this fight 100% and as always, give a great fight for fans on November 13.”

Rosado (26-13-1, 15 KOs) has faced the best at 154 and 160 pounds like Gennadiy Golovkin, Daniel Jacobs and Jermell Charlo. The "King" feels he will bring the momentum from the Melikuziev fight into this one with the result being the same.

“I'm excited about this fight. It’s a fight in high demand,” Rosado said. “I respect Munguia as a fighter and I will bring my best and I am confident I will be victorious. My last fight I think will end up being ‘Knock-out of the Year,’ and I plan on making this upcoming bout ‘The Fight of the Year.’ Time to make history."

Orange County will be represented on November 13th as Santa Ana’s Alexis “Lex” Rocha (17-1, 11KOs) faces off against Jeovanis Barraza (22-1, 15KOs) of Barranquilla, Colombia, in a 10-round welterweight co-main event for Munguia vs. Rosado at Anaheim's Honda Center.

The welterweight fight will be preceded by a 10-round middleweight bout between top contender D’Mitrus Ballard (20-0-1, 11KOs) of Temple Hill, Maryland, and Mexico’s Paul Valenzuela, Jr. (26-9, 17KOs).

The DAZN show opener will feature Mexico’s undefeated, heavy-handed, lightweight rising star, William Zepeda (23-0, 21KOs), facing off against Miami’s John Moralde (24-4, 13KOs) in a 10-round fight for the WBA Continental America’s Lightweight title. The event will be broadcast live on DAZN, excluding Mexico, starting at 6:00 p.m. PT/9:00 p.m. ET.

“Saturday, November 13th will be a great night of boxing for Southern California fight fans,” said Oscar De La Hoya, Chairman, and CEO of Golden Boy. “We are proud to highlight one of Orange County’s top contenders, Alexis Rocha, as he makes his return to the Honda Center in the co-main event of the night. I know he will make all his hometown fans proud as he takes on a tough contender in a 10-round welterweight war.”

After a stellar, knock-out performance on June 19, 2021, against James Bacon, Alexis “Lex” Rocha of Santa Ana, California, is determined to continue his winning streak when he faces off against Jeovanis Barraza on November 13. The Southern California native is returning to the Honda Center as a top-rising welterweight contender who has steadily climbed the rankings by successfully defeating tough competitors like Berlin Abreu, Roberto Valenzuela Jr., and Brad Solomon.

“I expect a lot from myself. I expect to be a main event star in the sport. For now, I’m focused on stealing the show as the co-main event and bringing excitement to the crowd,” said Alexis Rocha. “I want to earn the respect and support of Orange County fans and I can do that by knocking opponents out. I was born and raised here. Sports in Orange County should be Angels, Ducks, and Alexis Rocha. That’s my goal.”

Making his second American appearance on November 13, Jeovanis Barraza of Barranquilla, Colombia, is looking to make a statement in the welterweight division. The 26-year-old dangerous contender has defeated tough competition in Colombia, including top prospects Carlos Saenz and Luis Guillermo Berrio. Now, he will be looking to impress American audiences as he seeks an upset victory against Santa Ana’s Alexis Rocha.

“I am at Reyes Boxing getting the best training I can to prepare for a fight that will change my life,” said Jeovanis Barraza. “I am going to bring my top game and show the world what I am made of.”

Headlining the Golden Boy Fight Night portion of the night, live on Facebook Watch, Arley Muncino (29-3-2, 10 KOs) of Monterey, Mexico will meet Jackie Calvo (14-6-2, 1KO) of Mexico City in a 10-round female flyweight battle.

The Pride of Mexicali, Diego De La Hoya (22-1, 10KOs) will make his return to the ring facing off against Guadalajara’s Jose Gonzalez (23-9-1, 13KOs) in a 10-round featherweight event.

Alejandro Reyes (4-0, 3KOs) of Los Angeles will participate in a 4-round super lightweight fight against Osmel Mayorga (2-2, 1KO) of Miami, Fl.

Finally, San Diego’s rising prospect, Jorge Chavez, will make his pro debut in a 4-round super featherweight bout against Mexico City’s Gilberto Aguilar (0-3).

Once upon a time, I thought that Rosado was going to be a star but he just seems to want to be a journeyman.

ice its the truth...that man was suppose to be champ at 154..but he made a bad decision going up and facing GGG and altered his career trajectory

dude stays extending his 15 mins...he should have been out of boxing by now

The decisions he made AFTER fighting GGG though. Dude was moving like he was allergic to soft touches.

Rosado is living his renaissance so I'm not mad about this matchup. He upset a hyped prospect by a KO of the year contender and he gave a tough fight to Jacobs. A lackluster and demotivated Jacobs at that but still... it was the guy who gave Canelo and GGG good fights not long ago.

I'm not saying he's gonna be a world champion or anything that sort but Rosado is in his second prime now, physically might not be in his prime because he's 35 now but seems like a smarter, more skilled fighter than he used to be. It's rare but it happens...

I got Munguia by a clear decision here but Rosado will have his moments. Munguia stopping him wouldn't surprise me though, either normally or on cuts.

Munguia by mauling if Rosado comes to fight or a clear UD for Munguia if Rosado comes to try to spoil and box from the outside.
