On the Jan. 1 edition of SmackDown, Intercontinental Champion Big E joined forces with Apollo Crews to overcome the tandem of Sami Zayn & King Corbin. Big E announced that he will issue an open challenge for his title the following week on the blue brand. Crews stepped up and informed Big E that he will be accepting that challenge.
The SmackDown Tag Team Champions The Street Profits will defend their titles against the dirty dogs "The Heart Ache Kid" Dolp Zilga and beer money Robert Roode.
Tonight’s SmackDown main event will feature an epic Gauntlet Match to determine who will challenge Universal Champion Roman Reigns at Royal Rumble, pitting highly decorated Superstars Daniel Bryan, Rey Mysterio, Sami Zayn, Shinsuke Nakamura and King Corbin against each other in an all-out battle to face The Head of the Table.
After being thrown into the abyss of the ThunderDome will Kevin Owens smarten up and walk away from taking YET another ass whoopin' from "Main Event" Jey Uso and "The Head of the Table" Roman Reigns? Or will K.O. come crawling back to feel the wrath of the tribes once again?
