"A Story is only as good as it's Villain" or "A hero is only as good as his Villain".

If so do you think a writer should focus on the villain and their motives more than they do the other characters in the story?
Real talk. Cause I'm tired of bytches telling me "You're too sweet". I'm tired of them not taking me seriously and not respecting me as a man. What is it that separates the "good guys" such as myself, and the "bad boys"?
