I Can't be The Only One Who Wants Yakuza Zero in English So Badly

zemflczjhljpq8aw6qkk.png

While there's no word on a western release for the upcoming Yakuza 0, the latest trailer was just too awesome not to share. With English subtitles no less.
The games of the Yakuza series have always been very cinematic, making for some pretty great trailers that give you a very meaty taste of the stories within. The latest released trailer for the game doesn't really offer more details on the plot than the last one did, but it's on par in terms of drama, atmosphere, and some pretty fantastic visuals. Check it out below with subtitles added by yours truly.

Yakuza 0: The Place of Promise is scheduled for release on the PS3 and PS4 in Japan on March 12th along with some snazzy custom PS4s. No word on an international release. Yet.

For those of you that were saying you really want a next gen Shenmue, this is the game you need to check for. You can dap and rep me later.

Update 1/27/15

Yakuza-0-Kiryu-Chapter-One.jpg

This week’s Yakuza 0 gameplay walkthrough starts the game from the beginning, showcasing the first chapter of Kazuma Kiryu’s story.
Kiryu, of course, is one of two playable characters in Yakuza 0. Next week, we’ll likely get a similar video for Majima Goro.

[UPDATED 2/24/15]

The Yakuza 0 demo launched for PlayStation Plus subscribers last week in Japan is now available to all users.
Queue up the demos here: PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3.
The demo will let you play up until the middle of the game’s first chapter. In terms of length, it runs about an hour-and-a-half to two hours. The story begins with a certain murder and follows Kazuma Kiryu as he is engulfed in a power struggle in the underworld of Kamurocho, 1988.

Sega needs to stop frontin :comeon: Its 2k15 nikka, release that shyt digital only. Keep it Japanese with English text. You cant tell me that takes years work

Sega has always made terrible decisions, but lets face reality, they're not paying for localizing(even if its just digital) a game they don't think will sell. If Sony never spoke up, we would have never seen Y5. Buy the game and you increase the chances of seeing Yakuza Zero localized.

Sega is so goddamn stupid, they didn't even localize Ishin when there was a drought last February. Early in a console life is when they should have been introducing new people to the Yakuza series and they failed. Don't depend on them for anything now a days.

Yakuza Zero Sells 500,000 Copies on PS4 and PS3; Series Overtakes 7.5 Million Copies Sold
Kazuma Kiryu makes a festive face just above (that’s his festive face, yeah), as Sega announced today with a press release that Yakuza Zero sold 500,000 copies between Japan and Asia on PS4 and PS3.

The announcement also mentioned that the new milestone has brought the whole series over 7.5 million copies sold worldwide. This happens just in time for the franchise’s 10th anniversary, that will come on December 8th, and the press release encourages to stay tuned for further news about that.

Now, if only Sega took this as a clear signal that they should really release this game in the west in a timely manner, possibly with a decent marketing to back it up, for once… I know, fat chance, but a man can dream, can’t he?

Yakuza Zero Demo for PS4 and PS3 Now Available for Free on Japanese PSN

You have possibly read my Yakuza Zero hands-on preview, but now you can check out the game for yourself thanks to a brand new demo available on the Japanese PSN. It was previously distributed only to Japanese PlayStation Plus subscribers, but now it’s downloadable for everyone.
The demo is available on the Japanese web store for PS4 here and for PS3 here (make sure you’re logged off your western account, or the link won’t work). To download it, you’ll need a Japanese PSN account (you can follow this guide to create one), but then it’ll work with any account after installation.
If you prefer finding the demo directly on your PS4, go to ゲーム, then to 体験版, select the DualShock silouhette and you’ll find the the download right at the top of the next screen.
The demo weighs a whopping 5.17 gigabytes on PS4, and 4.4 on PS3, and will let you have fun around the streets of Kamurocho (the fictional version of Tokyo’s Kabukicho district) with the younger version of the series’ protagonist Kazuma Kiryu.
While the game is in Japanese, if you’re familiar with the franchise, you really should have no problem enjoying it. And if you’re not familiar with the franchise, what’s wrong with you?
