I just checked the internal data for our Black Friday numbers and wanted to let you know that over the Holiday weekend:

Xbox 360 sold more than 750,000 consoles in the U.S. alone –exceeding internal forecasts.
Three month Xbox LIVE Gold Subscription sales increased more than 50 percent compared to last year’s Black Friday week.
We saw incredible activity on Xbox over the weekend. For example, on Sunday alone we had more than 14 million people on Xbox LIVE across the world, racking up more than 72 million hours of use in just one day.
Compared to 2011, we’ve seen a 43 percent increase in U.S. entertainment application hours logged on Xbox LIVE during the week of Black Friday.

They are in a very enviable position.

There are people that can't afford new systems at launch, some that prefer to wait till the tail end of a console's life to purchase. They all have their reasons. The streams of late adopters of the 360 and early adopters of the next Xbox aren't really crossing much here.

Xbox obviously won Wii was a fad that doesn't even sell games outside of Nintendo

well kids are constantly getting to 'that age' where they want to play video games. it's not like everyone gets an xbox when they're born. or like the average parent knows the 720 is right around the corner

other factors as well, like people finally being in a position to afford it. not to mention all the people buying their 2nd or 3rd console because of RROD
