Everywhere...You never there.

How many people (male/female) y'all know 25 & under who know how to cook, use and prepare the following:

Chitlins
Hog Maws
Neckbones
turkey necks
turkey wings
turkey legs
Hog Head Cheese
Fat Back
Gizzards
Liver
Chicken Livers
Pig Feets
Liver Puddin
Liver Mush
Ox tails
Country Fried Steak
Chicken Fried Steak
Ham Hocks
Cracklins
Succotash
Chow Chow
Okras
Yams
Chicken Bogs
Chicken Pastry
Hoecakes
Conch Fritters

:banderas:

:cook:

:eat:

Will these soon go extinct... and should we be concerned?

Feel free to add on and discuss...

What about in the black community? Do you see young black folks, by and large, on some ... and riding that sushi, mainstream, Chipotle wave and throwing classic southern/country/soul food to the bushes?

It's not a race thing - it's a regional thing. I had a convo just yesterday at work with a couple young broads (one black, one white)
about such cuisine.

I'm not sayin' it is or isn't, but you said "white people still eat it" ... so I just piggybacked off that and asked if you think younger blacks will disavow these foods? Or have you already heard them throwing it in the bushes?

It's definitely regional and cultural, tho.

...and let's be clear... we're talking about southern, rural whites.

The only way I can see these going away is if more people don't cook.
