Why do people consider Adriana Lima "white" or "tan" when she's black?

A lot of people that I know don't even know/consider that she's black. Why do you think that is, even though she identifies as being "black"? She grew up in Salvador, Bahia which has the highest concentration of blacks in Brazil, and was raised by her grandma. I do know that when "hot black women" get brought up, she is never mentioned. It's always Hallie, Beyonce, Tyra, and Rihanna.

You do realize that this basically disqualifies a large percentage of African Americans from being black, right? Most African Americans are only, on average 65-70% "African"
