Marc Geiger is the founder of ARTISTSDIRECT a talent scout agency, management firm as well as sublabel imprint founded with former Interscope head Ted Fields...
it now operates as an internet media conglomerate

ArtistDirect is responsible for pushing artists such as Blink 182 and Kevin Gates

"Labels are making money again....all the advertising revenue coming from entities like Youtube, thier getting 100 million dollar checks...streaming revenue....itunes downloads has exceeded record sales in stores...

the streaming on demand model scales and subscribtion services are big money...which is why Amazon, Apple and Google are entering the game...

the labels cut costs cause THEY DONT HAVE TO DO ANYTHING as far as overhead..just MAKE THE FILES Available to entities like Spotify ...

this works well for the Labels in regards CATALOG ARTISTS (old music) where the royalty rate (which is low) has already been PAID off, and the Marketing Costs have ALREADY BEEN PAID OFF AND RECOUPED....and it's PURE PROFIT......"

Bu bu bu but Tidal is so FUKKIN' dope and I can afford the monthly payment and I'd rather listen to my music at its highest quality and not on Beats by Dre products which are at lower octaves than my high quality listening equipment, blah blah blah, etc.

Labels will always find a way to get their money. The game is rigged in their favor

It used to cost about $7 to press a CD and and everything else was a variable of expenses between labels, sellers, and distributors. Why the albums prices were in the range of $14-$16 dollars.(Artist were getting around 21 cents off every album)

Now that labels don't have to press physical copies to give people because of digital, the prices of albums should be cut in half but $7 albums are nowhere to be found and albums are still overpriced and contracts are still being set up like they're pressing a million CDs to distribute and artist are still paying for distribution of a itunes link. Dirty Game

To be fair some labels are lowering the prices of their didgital albums. For example I bought that latest Jeezy album from Google Play, the deluxe ver And all the albums I've checked for on there have been about that price or less.sion with extra tracks for $799 on release day.

When will nikkas learn to quit fukking with Apple. I pay no more then $799 for albums on Google and that includes bonus tracks most of the time.

bu bu but artists shouldn't focus on the big problem ( getting their money from labels) they need to fight one battle at a time, create a streaming service that charges the consumer more.....:comeon:
