HBK built the first spaceship and designed the first pair of J's but I cant give him full credit for the Attitude Era. They def gave it a platform though.
Jesus had the new testament, Shawn had the attitude Era. And both eras blew the fukk up when both had died for our sins.

The attitude era was bound to happen, no one wrestler created it. Pop culture, especially music, was darker in the 90's than the 80's and it was only a matter of time before wrestling reflected that.

But as we've seen, Vincent Kennedy McMahon isn't exactly in tune with the zeitgeist of popular culture. Nothing is "bound to happen" in WWE unless Vince wants it to.
Without HBGOAT earning Vince's respect by having the balls to stand up to him, and using that influence push for edgier content on the show, there is no Attitude Era in WWE.
Russo is literally the best placed person in the world to confirm this, since he was writing the show and answering directly to Vince at that time.
