There are a handful of rice manufacturing companies like this that are still out there distributing and selling. This is how they make it.
This is where I found the video. Hatians throwing out their bags of rices. Literally mounds of it all over.
This is an epidemic that isn't really being taken seriously world wide. Reason being:
Rice made from plastic has sometimes been reported in the media, manufactured in Vietnam & China and sold in very few countries.[3] Snopes - a website that investigates urban-legends - has determined such reports are either hoaxes or unproven, pointing out that plastic rice grains would easily be detected after cooking, and likely more expensive to produce than real rice.[4] Though these reports were unproven but there are videos available on YouTube which shows how these rice are made from plastic covers.
In December 2016, it was reported that 2.5 tonnes of plastic rice from China had been seized in Nigeria.[5] However, after a few weeks, a spokesperson of the Nigerian Federal Ministry of Health stated that, after preliminary tests performed by National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, that the material contained all the characteristics of rice and there was no evidence that plastic rice was circulating in the country.[6] It was later announced by Yetunde Oni, The Acting Director General of NAFDAC, that the rice was contaminated with bacteria.
Why were they listening to a website that talks about Urban Legends
The "plastic rice" in the Nigerian case wasn't plastic rice, it was actually just really really contaminated...which is actually fukking worse.
Following more thorough lab tests, Nigeriaās National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) says the suspected fake rice is not plastic, but rice contaminated with microorganisms. Speaking at a press conference yesterday, a senior official with the NAFDAC said levels of bacteria, including Coliform, found within the rice were āabove permissible limits,ā and that the product was unsuitable for human consumption. On its own, this bacteria isnāt usually harmful, but its presence is an indicator of other contaminants, such as microorganisms that dwell in fecal matter, disease-causing bacteria, viruses, and parasites.
Despicable. I was half asleep when I came across this and it woke me right the fukk up. Problem is, this keeps happening and there doesn't seem to be a real crackdown on these factories producing this shyt. Plus you got c00ns/insiders helping them all just to make money. Disgraceful shyt.
