It's an hour long interview, but Dr. Johnson brought up some very good points. Most notably the proactionary and reactionary solutions that need to be implemented to fix the educational problem in American for black children.

Proactionary - Black people need to build independent schools that they control autonomously that should include the following sciences as part of their core curriculum:
  • Agricultural/Agronomical Science - understanding how to grow our own foods
  • Nutritional Science - knowing when/what/how to eat
  • Political Science - understanding why things that are happening today to black people are the way they are
  • Economic/Financial Science - understanding how money works
  • Military Science - understanding how to work within an oppressive system as black people
  • Spiritual Science - understanding of African spiritual systems
  • Science of the Black Family - understanding of black male and female relationships

Reactionary - Black parents need to form an independent black parents association that focuses on the following committees:
  • Special Ed Committee - investigate how/why black children are being placed into special ed and how the money is being distributed
  • School Discipline Committee - investigate how black children are being disciplined and determine which schools, teachers, and administration are responsible
  • School Finance Committee - investigate where the money is being distributed within the school
  • School Policy Committee - investigate what policies are in place and how are they affecting black children

Here's the full interview

Here's the part of the interview where he discusses the solutions

We need to form a financial base FIRST. It's a lot of stuff we need to do like form our own schools and the like but where do we get the money? You can't create a black community if money is flying out of it as quick as we get it

As he said in the video, while we get our resources together to build our own schools, we can take the reactionary measures (black parents association) to make sure black children aren't being fukked over by the system.

He also said one doesn't take precedence over the other. So as the education issue is being addressed, the psychological and economic issues should be addressed in tandem.

Umar's passion/expertise is education so that's why he's focused on that. If you feel an economic base needs to be created for us to move forward, then work on a plan to get one in place. I'm assuming you have some ideas and are willing to organize and motivate the masses of black people to accomplish that goal.

Will watch. Hope it doesn't get derailed like last time.

Come on breh, we already know the c00n train is coming :comeon:

"While we get our resources together" Assumes to me that this isn't a BIG problem. I don't think we've been successful at doing both and I don't think there is enough black literature/media that focuses on the subject or IF there is any interest at all. I have my personal financial plan in place but I know that I would not be able to organize the masses.

Never said it wasn't a big problem, and everyone know it is. Dr Umar is a from the Garvey camp, who believes we need black owned everything (Banks, hospitals, schools, railroads, etc). But again, Umar's education, experience, and passion is education; so him pushing towards the end goal is understandable

There's definitely "interest". There's a hundreds of thousands of "conscious" black people with the money to support damn near anything we want. Not to mention the millions of black fukks who don't consider themselves to be conscious who'd join a movement if one was presented to them.

I have my personal financial plan in place but I know that I would not be able to organize the masses.

If you don't have a plan in place, I'm curious as to why you brought it up? I said earlier, Umar is a Garveyite and believes black people need to control their own community, including the economics. But maybe you're not familiar with his background.

If you feel an economic base needs to be created, what's stopping you from laying the ground work of getting one together?

Because I feel that everyone has good solutions on how to "fix" the African American community but when it comes to "where do you we get the money?" There is never a solid set of answers. We have not proven to be able to do both at the same time. Not in a long term sense. I'm personally focusing on getting a financial base together. That will give me the power to invest in or create black owned businesses. I think you can still organize and have your thoughts together but your emphasis should be on the money. I think we emphasize more on the idea...
