-Mic work/promos
like a 3 or 4....i don't remember anything dude ever really did or said aside from that shrug gesture.

-Personality/gimmicks
8... could easily be like a 9 or 10 here, but scaled back just so i don't go overboard...RVD had amazing in-ring charisma. Double thumbs was always over.
-Ring work (along with some of your favorite matches/feuds)
8....had his own little style. Great moveset. later on got repetitive though.

With a scale of 1-10 how would you rate Rob Van Dam in these categories:

-Mic work/promos
  • 6 - I think he might have had the ability but he has pretty much zero really remarkable promos in his career....his backstage humor stuff was cool tho

-Personality/gimmicks
  • 8 - Mr. Monday Night / Mr. PPV / RVD420 says I just SMOKED your ass / The whole fukkin show....he had dope ass gimmicks and nicknames for DAYS...even his music was GOAT tier, both ecw and wwf.

-Ring work (along with some of your favorite matches/feuds)
  • 9 - a TRUE innovator, super entertaining in the ring, sold like a champ....he's slept on in my opinion as one of the best workers of all time.

-Overall rating (which doesn't have to be an average of the above scores)
  • 8 - RVD was dope as fukk, a great great wrester who was always over, never halfassed in his life, and fans LOVED for his whole career....RVD is a great wrestler...TRULY a GOAT and one of a kind.

West where the Sunsets
Hassan has no business being on the list. :mjlol: :camby:

Dreamer too. :patrice:

His promos were meh, but it really had to do with his personality. His ring work and personality are both a 9.

He's one of my favorites, so my biased side would give him a 9. However, I'm trying to be rational here so I'd give him an 8. He was missing a few pieces that could of made him a main man. He is a main man in his own right tho.

-Mic work/promos = 3
He was cringeworthy on the mic most of the time and barely is passable. I give him some points because he could be funny at times. A notable example being his interrogation segment with Stone Cold during the Invasion.

-Personality/gimmicks = 7
He had tons of charisma and great nicknames. He didn't have a distinctive eye catching gimmick but he didn't really need one. I wasn't a fan of the whole stoner persona and I thought it was kind of lame.

-Ring work (along with some of your favorite matches/feuds) = 9
RVD was an innovative worker who could bring a great balance of high flying, hardcore, and technical wrestling. The only negative is that he had a reputation for being stiff and reckless at times but overall he was excellent in the ring.

Favorite matches/feuds: vs Cena, vs Bam Bam Bigelow, vs Sabu, vs Jerry Lynn

RVD vs Bam Bam Bigelow [TV Title Match, 4-4-1998]

RVD vs Jerry Lynn [Hardcore Heaven 1999]

RVD vs Jeff Hardy [Hardcore Title Match, Invasion 2001]

RVD vs Chris Jericho [Hardcore Title Match, Unforgiven 2001]

Cena vs RVD at One Night Stand 2006

I could go on and on. This site gives a great overview of his notable matches for those who want to check them out.

Not just an ECW Legend but he also had a pretty good career in the WWE as well. His drug bust was probably the worst blunder that he could have made. If it never happened who knows how Paul Heyman and the "new" ECW would have fared.
With his screwup aside (:mjpls:), he was extremely entertaining in the ring, charismatic, and consistently over with the fans. If you watch the Jeff Hardy match I posted earlier, he was still getting strong reactions from the crowd which is pretty impressive when going up against a prime Jeff Hardy. Even within the last few years, RVD has been having great matches with people like Neville and Seth Rollins.

RVD was dope wrestling character. He had innovative moves, cool catch phrases, and overall he was presented as a star. He wasn't the greatest talker but his ring work and gimmick made up for it.

Unlike some if the guys before him I think you could make him a top guy and get a way with because he was so cool and the.character works as a heel or face. But I'd give him a solid 8.

Dreamer definitely should be on the list because I'd really like to hear what people thought of his ECW years.

I'm probably going to reconsider on Hassan since he had such a short career.

RVD had a great gimmick in ecw

His mic skills were nonexistent, but he didn't need them because of his ring abilities.

He made the ruthless aggression era exciting, along with the hardys. 8/10

Btw, can we do the Hardys after warrior? Or at least put them up for consideration

I can't really include the Hardys yet because they're still wrestling and still evolving as performers.

Mic work/promos
2 - trash on the mic. that's fine, not everyone can be great, but he was best with Bill Alfonso in ECW. He needed someone talking for him and he could just chime in with random one liners.

-Personality/gimmicks
9 - Great nicknames, great catch phrases, seemed cool as fukk as a kid. I remember not getting ECW as a kid but from what I heard and saw he seemed like a non fakkity version of Shawn Michaels

-Ring work (along with some of your favorite matches/feuds)
7 - He was an innovator as some have said, he brought stuff nobody has ever seen or done since, but he also rested on his laurels way too early into his career and stopped innovating and went to the same formula every single match.

-Overall rating (which doesn't have to be an average of the above scores)
7 - Innovator, cool character, can't deny his overness over such a long period of time. Not a top star, but didn't feel out of place with the top stars.

Now, he's a 7 in my eyes. But if we're grading on whatever sliding scale ya'll bums used to rank CM Chump an average of 8, then RVD is a got damn 10. :dahell:
