This guy's "success" is based in that one promo. Besides that...

I will never forget that time he tried to start some shyt in the middle of Raw trying to throw his shirt to the ring. He was promoting that terrible ECW reunion show. Flop after flop after flop.

Don't remember a single match of his either.

The Franchise :mjlol:

With a scale of 1-10 how would you rate Shane Douglas in these categories:

-Mic work/promos: 8. One of the best talkers from the mid to late '90s.

-Personality/gimmicks: 8. Dean Douglas was lame but "The Franchise" was great. Classic POS heel, IMO.

-Ring work (along with some of your favorite matches/feuds): 6. Problem is, his prime years were in ECW where he had great character moments but shytty wrestlers to work with. His time in WWF was only a minute long and by the time he got a job in WCW, he was past his prime. I've always felt his legacy as a worker would've been better if he was able to hang in the WWF or WCW during his prime as a heel and had a better quality of opponents to work with. He wasn't someone that could lift others UP to his level, but if you put him in there with a great worker, he could hang.

All of his best feuds were in ECW: Sandman, Dreamer, Pitbulls, Taz.

-Overall rating (which doesn't have to be an average of the above scores): 7, because he was a big fish in a small pond. And when he did get to the big pond, it never went anywhere for various reasons.

I haven't watched enough of his career to say, but...

The target thing isn't nearly as bad as it's made out to be. I've seen some interviews with him and he's not a mark for himself at all. He probably saved money, and made close to 100k as a Target manager. By comparison, there are a lot of wrestlers who become pathetic post-wrestling that you "can't" make fun of, for whatever reason.

It seems like he's wrestling again so :yeshrug:. I don't know if he's still a store manager.

I looked it up: He quit Target almost a decade ago,

He went back to teaching, but then quit doing that full time too, because of pills and so he could more freely work/promote third rate indy shows and the convention circuit.

I enjoyed him in ECW and he was ok as a generic babyface during the late 80s - early 90s.

His last time in WCW was kind of rough, as the whole promotion was terrible and they pushed the shyt out of him.

I said 6.

I always enjoyed Shane....or at least, wanted to. He had a professional air about him that many of the wrestlers in ECW simply didn't give off, which helped make him feel like a big deal. He was good on the stick, and had a good look. The matches don't really hold up so well but it is what it is.
I'm rolling with a 6
