If people have any requests for future wrestlers you want to see evaluated, let me know. I'll have one wrestler evaluated for each week every Wednesday. The leaderboard is updated every 5 threads so it's never too late to vote for previous threads.

For #78 it will be The Godfather.

Pending requests: Brutus Beefcake, Mark Henry, Manami Toyota, Umaga, Taka Michinoku, Al Snow, Tajiri, Shane Douglas, Lita, Trish Stratus, Christian Cage, Test

I havent done a Evaluation in a while but I used to be a big fan of Ken Shamrock.

I said before on here that the first ppv I ever rented was King Of The Ring 1998 and I wanted Ken to win so bad. When he beat the Rock in the finals I remember running all over the house celebrating.
So Im really biased on Shamrock (early warning)

-Mic work/promos -6 - Dont remember him really standing out on promos but his intensity was great enough where he didnt need to talk on the mic to get his point across. I cant rate over 6 though since he wasnt known for his promos.

-Personality/gimmicks -8 - Gimmick was so dope at the time, yeah it was simple but a shoot fighter looking for a fight, he sold it so well because thats how he really acts even today lol.

-Ring work (along with some of your favorite matches/feuds) -7 - Watching his matches today I could see flaws in his work that I didnt notice back then but he was a guy who was still training when they threw him out there so I grade him on a curve since he didnt get a lot of training before his debut (I know he trained with Bret Hart some). With that being said him not being as polished as others worked well with his shoot fighter gimmick, more of a brawler than a technical wrestler was cool for him. He had classic feuds with The Rock & Owen Hart that still hold up today. Finally his ankle lock looked devastating as a kid I knew it was over when he would lock it in.

Sorry for the rambling I had some free time :yeshrug:

Overall rating - I'd say 7 but he was one of my favorites in 1998

Could have been the WWF's version of Mike Tyson. Legit fight background, made you believe he was really fukking insane and had the best ankle lock (along with psycho angle). Only dude that had Ministry Taker shook and made him feel like the underdog. Whenever he was in the ring I believed he had a chance to win whether it be against HBK, Taker, Austin, etc.

Couldn't cut a promo to save his damn life though.

Gave him a 7. Good wrestler and pioneer in the mma to wrestler crossover, but really had no memorable matches. probably the most memorable thing he did in the WWE was be the special referee in the Austin/Hart match.
and this chairshot...

His match with Rock where he won, then lost the Intercontinental Title was :blessed:

The red mist disappeared long enough for Ken to realize what happened, then he went HAM on the referees. :mjlol:

7 for me. They put him in some weird ass angles - trying to stop Mr. Ass and Val Venis from fukking his kayfabe sister, for example:dwillhuh:

His match with Owen in The Dungeon was straight fukkery :russ:

That story about him going after The Nasty Boys though:whew:. Bumped him up a point just for that.

In evaluations like these, I like to note how nostalgia does sometimes bump up a rating that might otherwise be lower than usual. That will be the case here. I think really Shamrock is like a 6 I’ll rate 7 because although he wasn’t a great wrestler or talker and he doesn’t really have too many memorable bouts to his name, he was entertaining to watch get into the zone and freak out on people.

Also I can name what I consider his best match

With a scale of 1-10 how would you rate Ken Shamrock in these categories:

-Mic work/promos: 4. Wasn't very good. Came across as a meathead cutting generic '80s rassler promos. Really could've used a mouthpiece. Imagine if he was the original Paul Heyman Guy.

-Personality/gimmicks: 9. "World's Most Dangerous Man" was a great gimmick because you knew he could back it up. He had a great look. Dude looked like legit bad-ass psycho.

-Ring work (along with some of your favorite matches/feuds): 8. I think he's underrated, and again, he came up in an era where the emphasis and the majority of the roster wasn't really built around high quality matches. Plus, dude was only there for a couple of years and left in 1999. Imagine if he had stuck around for a few more years and had matches with Angle (a dream match, IMO... wrestling vs MMA... ankle lock vs ankle lock), Brock, Shelton, Jericho, Benoit, Eddie, Edge, RVD, etc.

Best feuds and matches were with The Rock and Owen Hart.

-Overall rating (which doesn't have to be an average of the above scores): 7. Even though I give him high numbers elsewhere, he didn't stick around long enough to pad out his resume and legacy. Much too short of a run.
