Easy 10. He’s had some real lows in his career but the highs eclipse that for me. Signature look, gimmick, style that was all his own. Creator of the DDT. Dude was complete counterculture to every other major star the WWF had in the era. While Warrior, Savage, and the like were cutting these loud intense promos Jake had a quiet intensity that still spoke volumes. He never held a major title but he didn’t really need to, and his spot on the card, being the primer feud to prep you for Hogan, was arguably just as important as any midcard title. His whole WWF run was filled with more memorable feuds than many other dudes whole careers. The feud with Rude where his wife’s face was plastered on Rude’s tights, Earthquake squashing Damien, attacking Savage at his own wedding, the list goes on. Dude’s a 10/10 with the only knocks I have on him being his extreme downfall and his 96 run which, while it made sense based off where he was in his life, didn’t feel totally in line with the character he had established, but then that helped create the Austin 3:16 moment so :manny:

10. Easy 10. My favorite growing up. Loved Jake the Snake Roberts. He had the deadliest LIGHTS OUT FINISHER of our childhood. Eventually we saw the tombstone, Sid Vicious Powerbomb, Vader's Powerbomb, Razor's Edge but Jake was knocking motherfukkers out...his storylines were wonderful:laugh: Slapped the shyt out of Elizabeth....the RED CENSOR LINE when the cobra bit Macho Man( I was in shock)...when he had Damien force Andre cop pleas in one of the funniest GIFS in TSC history:laugh: lmao@40 secs wtf

His promos are maybe the best ever. Jake the Snake is epitome of an all time great wrestling personality/character.

As a worker, I'd give him a 6 on a good day. You're not going to get any four star matches out of him, but he was so fluid and crisp with the few moves and mannerisms he did in the ring.

Personality and gimmick are a 10.

Favorite feuds are with Rude, Macho, Martel, and Sting. Too bad we never got Jake vs Hogan or Jake vs Warrior feuds.

Obviously a 10 on the mic. One of the best talkers ever.

10 overall.

mic work - a 10. he was the most believable guy in his era to me. all of his promos sound like a grizzled old vet getting on their high horse talking down to people about his values, how naive they are, and how little he thinks of everyone else. it was believable everytime tho, and he wasn't just a guy yelling and ranting. if there was ever a calculating movie bad guy who would be brought to life in the real world, he would look like and talk like jake the snake roberts. I watched some of his interviews (not his promo shyt), and I truly believe this guy was not only touched in the head, but a practicing satanist or something of the sort. only in the wrestling world he did it better than kevin sullivan (who had to have all the hoopla with the leathers, make up, and chained up girls). listening to jake's quasi-religious sayings in his promos, and his ability for weaving mistruths into truths, let you see that he really was a snake. but I think it was also how he was one of the first heels I saw who could easily blend into a babyface ... then come back just as quick to turn on you without anything being forced. jake either believed in his character so much or was just the best actor of his time
:francis:

personality/gimmick - it was over the top without being cartoony. pretty much what I want to see in pro wrestling. if you stripped away his snake gimmick and damien to just let him be who he was, you'd more than likely have the exact same guy. the snake gimmick worked in the world where you need something visual to stand out however, so it was perfect.

ring work - I see him as the quintessential old school wrestler. not a big moveset, but he managed to make the crowd care about his match, and many times they would really get into it. look at how hot the crowd was for him in his prime. plus his finisher looks brutal. only arn anderson could be in contention. even to this day, it looks like a finisher. other people do the ddt to show off or transition, while when he did it, he looked like he was trying to end the other person. the way he worked and picked apart his opponents makes you think he really wants to hurt the other guy for the whole match, and not just do some flashy shyt. when I was a kid I thought that looking at this guy is like watching at a predator at work. in and out of the ring he got you interested in his next move, and thats all that matters.

overall 10 because I see him as legendary from his work done at his prime. deserves full respect in the ring.

as a person tho I think he's a weirdo and a trainwreck of a person to stay clear of
