If people have any requests for future wrestlers you want to see evaluated, let me know. I'll have one wrestler evaluated for each week every Wednesday. The leaderboard is updated every 5 threads so it's never too late to vote for previous threads.

For the month of October I thought to go with the theme of veterans who still are with the WWE.

For #62 it will be Triple H.

Pending requests: Ted DiBiase, Jake The Snake Roberts, Rikishi, The Godfather, Stan Hansen, Christian Cage, Eddie Gilbert, Scott Hall, Alex Wright, Perry Saturn, Dean Malenko, Dusty Rhodes, Chris Candido, Dolph Ziggler, Brutus Beefcake, Alundra Blayze

With a scale of 1-10 how would you rate Goldust in these categories:

-Mic work/promos

-Personality/gimmicks

-Ring work (along with some of your favorite matches/feuds)

-Overall rating (which doesn't have to be an average of the above scores)

Easy 10 for me. A legend that was way ahead of his time.

Made a risqué gimmick work in a male dominant world. That's legendary in itself.

Classic promos and vignettes. Was in legendary feuds with Piper and Razor.

And he has managed to stay relevant in over 20 years with the same gimmick.

First ballot hall of famer!

Can't justify putting him as a 10 but he's probably one of the most respectful 9s I will ever give. I'm a huge fan of him. He has taken shyt and turned it in to sugar time after time. For his pops to be Dusty fukking Rhodes and him not being overshadowed is a testament to his abilities.

I'm a big Goldust mark so this is quite biased, but easily a 9. fukk it, I'm giving him a 10 :wow:

The Goldust gimmick shouldn't have worked, but Dustin Rhodes immersed himself in it and made it one of the GOAT gimmicks that pretty much signalled a shift in the WWF's programming. An Attitude Era gimmick three years before the Attitude Era started.

Promo skills were brilliant, and he could do comedy (that tag run with Booker in 2002 was gold) just as easily as he could do creepy and psychological.

In-ring he got better and better, and his run in 13-14 was mad underrated to the point where he was a top three worker on Raw.

GOAT theme too :wow:

Will undoutedly go into the HOF when he retires and it will be thoroughly deserved. As @Golayitdown said, the fact his pops was Dusty Rhodes and he's arguably more memorable is testament to his abilities and talent

GOATdust :salute:

Between his OG run, the Artist Formerly Known as Goldust era which was entertaining fukkery, the team with Booker, and his 2013/14 run it’s a high 8. It’s a shame many of his angles and runs in the company were so brief or ended with him being released, only to pop up a year or two later. His resume would be much greater with more consistency.

Wrestling, to me, is all about fukkery. And few people did it better. He took a gimmick that should have been dead and buried and between his willingness to go all the way with it and being at the right place at the right time made it the top example. Gotta have a retrospective DVD with him hosting it like Elvira or some shyt before he goes.

No good reason for me to not give him a 10.

A very worthy solid 8 from me. His original gimmick was ahead of it's time and came at the perfect time, and Goldust had every nuance and mannerism down possible to make it work, and various gimmicks afterwards have unsuccessfully tried to lift from it. Goldust was great at playing every type of elaborate character, even during his down years (Black Reign in TNA, where he wasn't really in good shape). At almost 50, he's probably in the best shape he's ever been in, starting from when him and Cody were feuding with Shield. Very impressive for his age, as there's quite a few other vets his age or younger that are totally washed and look and move every bit of 50. Wish he would have gotten a victory lap IC title run or better story-line than the one where he turned on R-Truth (actually, the build was great, the WWE just lost interest and rushed their matches). Can't give him higher than an 8 cause he never really spent time in the main event scene, had lengthy jobber portions of his career, and the times he was straight up Dustin Rhodes, he just wasn't that interesting. That preacher gimmick he had in '98 was gold though, made for some entertaining segments. Great theme, attire, entrance, nice and fitting promos, and characters in general made him one of the most entertaining guys for a long time, whether it was ambiguous Goldust, TAFKA Goldust, BookDust (EXTREMELY entertaining and highlight of Raw back then), preacher Dustin, or tourette's Goldust. Very much appreciated throughout his career. Dude had a ton of moments even if the matches weren't all there.

I have to give him a 8 (no homo)

Alot of people don't realize but this gimmick was a turning point and helped usher in the attitude era. He never got any big title reigns but he was steady in his matches, had an underrated moveset and very good promos. In wrestling they get to write their own history so they'll never give him the props he deserves, but he's had a great career and was alot more influential than many multiple time world champions.
