Beautiful Bobby :salute:

Man what can I say about this guy...him and Brad Armstrong are 2 of the most underrated and understated wrestlers of all time

if there's anything bobby takes a hit in is his promos..dude had a super strong southern drawl....used to make me cringe...however the promos where bobby eaton became "Earl Robert" when he was teamed with Regal were pure comedy...ill give him a 5 since i can actually remember those

Gimmicks - Beautiful Bobby..the ring name was cool....he was a very effective heel; Earl Robert i found him flat out hilarious..he was bland as a babyface - give him a 7

Ringwork - Bobby got it done..I remember reading somebody's biography..might be Steve Austin's, saying wrestling him was a "night off"...and i understood why..dude wasn't a crazy bump taker or somebody that was going to make you take big bumps or did things that didn't make any sense. He was smooth and had great timing..everything he did was solid...his best matches to me are as a member of midnight express..innovative tag team finishers and his own finisher as a single wrestler, the alabama jam, was dope for the time...he had great matches as a tag team (w/ stan lane) against the fantastics and the rock and roll express...IMO what i consider a top 10 tag team match of all time: vs tracy smothers & steve armstrong at GAB 90...damn near flawless..as singles wrestler vs arn, z-man, brad armstrong i remember were dope..he was damn good..especially for someone who didnt have the most bulked physique either :heh:..ill give him a solid 9..that may change if i decide to go on another kick of his matches again

Bobby Eaton is a legend and I wish he didnt ended his career not being a jobber for the stars on WCW saturday night..if anything he needs to be training these kids in this new generation.they could learn alot on how to work smart..hopefully a anthology of his matches can be put out by the WWE..if not from his single matches but at least from the midnight express days..it would be definitely worth it...overall give him 8.5

Damn Eddie over taker?

Anyway

I was never an Eaton fan, him and most of the express teams were just so fukkin southern to me, I couldn't fukk with it. Eaton is great as an adult rewatching on network though, and I have openly shyt on midnight express here but I get them now.

Promos - this was cornette job. He gets a C- here. Correct me with links if I'm wrong, I welcome it.

Workrate - B+. Dudes matches were great, couldn't appreciate them as a youngster.

Gimmicks: B-. Personally I think he was carried for gimmick by cornette.

Overall - 7. A high seven if that makes sense.

I will say him jobbing like a motherfukker in 96 wcw was bad. He lost in 30 seconds to ALEX WRIGHT on FREE TV at STURGIS in 96. That makes no fukkin sense.

8.5 from me:wow:

The thing that made Bobby Eaton special is the fact that he just seemed like a regular guy that clocks in to do some wrasslin. Mick Foley said it best that wrestling Eaton is like a "off day". Meaning, dude was safe as hell in the ring but made the shyt seemed believable. Something you never seen in this stiff ass bloodsport known as professional wrestling. Bobby's promos were.........:ld:, but nevermind the micskills, dude was apart of the Dangerous Alliance:whew:.

Plus the mullet brehs:banderas:.

Bottom line, Eaton needs to be in the HOF:ufdup:

Bobby Eaton is almost in my top 5

His gimmick is like a 1 but he didn't need a gimmick. He approached wrestling as a everyday blue collar worker

He could have a good to great match with anybody in singles or tag and his chemistry with rather it be Stan Lane or Dennis Condrey was incredible to witness.

The Rock n Roll Express is more popular but MNE made them what they are imo

Micwork- 2. Micwork is bad..i think hes a little slow honestly especially when I see him doing stuff today on fan convention videos he hardly speaks at all and when he does he seems hella uncomfortable and on wrestling shows he was just like every other southern wrestler doing a promo

Personality/Gimmick- 2. Again hes not gonna score high here. I don't even know what a Midnight Express is supposed to be and as I mentioned earlier he really had no personality. He was just a brawler

Ringwork- 10. Now here is where he shines. As I said earlier dude is one of the most slept on wrestlers ever. He was a flabby mess most of the time but he could work like top talent.

Overall- 9 it doesn't add up to all the low scores I gave him but to me he is my wrestling childhood. I always watched NWA/WCW over WWF growing up and rather it be tearing shyt up with Jim Cornette and Stan Lane or Dennis Condry or in a singles match on WCW Saturday Night dude will always have a fan in this breh here :salute:

Ill expand on what I mean by him not being a great talker..saying hes slow may be a little harsh

I was watching a newer NWA fan convention and it was Jim Cornette, Bobby Eaton, and some NWA referee doing a q&a

Whenever a question was asked to Bobby he started having this nervous leg thing going and Jim would answer the question for him..later on Cornette got a sudden bloody nose and had to go to the back to get it under control and ledt Bobby with the mic to answer questions..this dude was about to shyt his pants and was visibly upset he had to do this and JJ Dillon had to come from out the crowd to take over til Jim got back

Maybe he doesn't like speaking to a crowd :manny:

But later that night some ICP fan boys came in and wanted to ask some questions and had a back and forth with Cornette and words got heated and Bobby Eaton jumped up ready to scrap :dead:

Maybe dude just moves in silence with violence :demonic:

-Mic work/promos: 4. I don't remember him cutting many promos, but from what I can recall, he was below average. He usually had a partner or manager that would speak for him.

-Personality/gimmicks: 5. He had virtually zero personality, to be honest, but the Midnight Express gimmick was great.

-Ring work (along with some of your favorite matches/feuds): 8. Eaton was involved in a lot of great matches, but he spent his time so much in tag teams, there's not a lot to focus on in his singles career.

With Stan Lane, they obviously had great feuds and matches with the Road Warriors, Rock N Roll Express, the Steiner Bros and the Fantastics. Some of the best tag team matches of all time. I enjoyed his brief singles face run in '91. He had good matches with Arn Anderson and Ric Flair during this time. I've always loved the best 2 of out 3 falls match he had against Flair for the world title at Clash of the Champions XV during this era. He also had a really good match against Flair in 1990 on WCW Main Event. His team with Anderson as members of the Dangerous Alliance was solid, but I can't remember any specific matches for them.

-Overall rating (which doesn't have to be an average of the above scores: 7. Eaton was like Arn Anderson (but without the mic skills) -- in the late '80s/early '90s, he was someone you'd want around to help others look better or if you simply wanted a good match. He didn't look like a star, but he's one of the best tag team wrestlers ever and was a good singles wrestler in his own right in the early '90s.

didn't like him outside of the Midnight express but in that ring that man is pure gold. Let's be honest Jim Cornette is the reason the midnight express goes. The mouthpiece, the Tennis racket. I swear the midnght express had the best tag team moves.
