With a scale of 1-10 how would you rate Mike Awesome in these categories:

-Mic work/promos: 3. He sucked on the mic and had zero charisma.

-Personality/gimmicks: 6. His Japan (wish I still had those FMW VHS tapes :ohlawd:) and ECW runs were pretty good. Just a bad ass big man brawler that gave/took a lot of punishment. "Career Killer" in WCW was good, too, but "Fat Chick Thriller"/That '70s Guy... :scust:.

-Ring work (along with some of your favorite matches/feuds): I give him a 6. He was a fun brawler, but was also sloppy throughout his career. Best feud and matches would obviously have to be with Masato Tanaka.

-Overall rating (which doesn't have to be an average of the above scores): 5. Good big man brawler who had some nice high spots, but really didn't have much charisma. He could be really sloppy at times because he liked to wrestle as if he was a smaller size. Didn't really get the type of push I wanted him to get in WCW and WWF (he was basically a jobber there) though. Easily should've been a U.S. or IC champ.

BTW -- I was looking at his Wiki page and he was apparently cousins with Horace Boulder (Hogan). :dahell:

shytty wrestler, great spot guy as long as he had someone willing to die for him. Absolutely useless in matches where he couldn't murder guys with chairshots and powerbombs, worthless as a promo guy even when he was in ECW and could say fukk 30 times in 60 seconds.

I'd give him a 4 out of 10. Especially as he got COMPLETELY exposed in WCW/WWE as not being nearly as big or athletic as he seemed in Japan/ECW. Consider that Kanyon was actually taller than him, then imagine ECW booking Kanyon as a super dominant big man monster and how fukking goofy that would be.

I wouldv'e given him a 7 - 7.5 when I was big on spots and the legendary matches btw. him and Tanaka. But looking back now, all he had was spots and pretty good mobility.

So i gotta say, overall 6 at the most (off the strength of ECW and Japan).

Dude coulda been somebody in the game. Hes cousins with horace hogan so hulk was looking out for him but once the shyt happened with hulk/russo they tossed him in the bushes

Part of the historic wcw vs wwf wrestlers for ecw title match.

Legit big man who lookednthe part and looked like he was killing motherfukkers.

Sad that he killed himself.

People ahit on him for leaving ecw like that but its not his fault heyman was bouncing checks and couldnt run a company. Dude had a family to feed and when hulk got him in for big money, who would say no.

I wish he woulda went to wwf first cuz i think he woulda have flourished there first from ecw. Wcw really fukked him in the end.

Potential to be 9-10 but was really a 6-7. Gave him 8 cuz i always liked his look

Based on the stories about the Undertaker, I don't think he would have gone far.

He gets a 5.

I mean he was a decent in ring worker at best, but he never made a noticeable impact on the game.

Guarantee you if ask most wrestling fans to name off 5 ECW wrestlers that first comes to mind, his name wouldn't be mentioned.

Might not even be top 10 if we can keep it 100.:yeshrug:

I'll give him a 5 for being an ECW main eventer, but barely good enough to make the card on the big leagues.:ehh:

Low 6 for me.

Mike will be forever known for his highlander ass matches with Masato Tanaka and that corny ass 70s guy gimmick. Beyond that dude just had that "I'm bigger than the business" mentality when I can pull ten legit hoss wrestlers out of my ass that run laps around him. His mic work was garbage as well.

Bottom line, dude was a ok worker but the "Awesome" in his name is a understatement :hhh:.

He will be remembered for being an extremely agile tall wrestler. :yeshrug:

He failed in WCW because of the awful gimmicks that he had to deal with. He was a disappointment in WWE because of backstage politics.

That powerbomb. :damn:

On another note, I wonder if Mike's gimmick would have been something entirely better if Sullivan and Taylor would have still been bookers for WCW. I can picture this legit badass agile wrestler that could have been Goldberg's ultimate adversary. Imagine Starrcade with these two being in the main event for the WCW title:banderas:.

It would have saved the promotion if the shyt was done right. I'm just saying:ahh:

-Mic work/promos - 3

Can't think of any memorable promos off hand, he had Judge Jeff Jones as a mouth piece in ECW for a reason. Can't really rank him too high because he never really had a good or standout promo but he wasn't really offensively bad, he just relied a lot on swearing if memory serves correct.

-Personality/gimmicks - 5

Big metal head mullet guy murdering dudes with powerbombs worked. That 70's Guy...not so much. That shyt had to be a rib or something. Same for being the Fat Chick Thrilla. Just... :scust:

-Ring work (along with some of your favorite matches/feuds) - 6

Best matches were with Masato Tanaka because they both had zero disregard for themselves and each other. He also had a handful of very good matches as ECW champion, namely against small guys he could throw around like Little Spike Dudley or Kid Kash. His WCW run started promising enough but fizzled out. I just remember him mostly killing Kanyon there. He didn't do much of note in the WWF, and later had probably the match of his career with Tanaka at One Night Stand.

-Overall rating (which doesn't have to be an average of the above scores) - 5

I like Mike, but he wasn't much to watch when he wasn't wrecklessly killing people with powerbombs and chair shots. He had a lot of athleticism and he could go but he was a spot type worker so it never really translated as well as it could've. 5 seems fair based off his contributions and what he accomplished in his career.

mike was shyt on the mic and i hated the 70s guy/fat chick thriller gimmicks

but agile/high flying/powerbombing big man...hell yeah that worked

mike was also a spot monkey but he was a brutal spot monkey..those matches with masato tanaka are just :wow: :whew: to me..brawls with little regard for any damn thing..could brawl his ass off but was very ordinary when he couldn't do those spots every night (WCW/WWE)..i sometimes think mike must have had some neurological issues due to his reckless style of wrestling and that might have led to how he died

i did enjoy watching him wrestle though..give him a solid 6
