With a scale of 1-10 how would you rate MVP in these categories:

-Mic work/promos

-Personality/gimmicks

-Ring work (along with some of your favorite matches/feuds)

-Overall rating (which doesn't have to be an average of the above scores)

The big homie had "IT" really and I think he was very close to reaching his potential. If he would've had the opportunity to begin his career earlier, I really think he would right there with Cena.

Despite the lost time, he is still a solid 8 for me

MIC - 8 (Very natural and convincing on the mic. Could be funny, mean or endearing)
GIMMICKS - 7, BDC was very underrated and allowed MVP to showcase his personality. MVP gimmick was entertaining, but could have evolved during his E stint. I felt MVP got bored with that gimmick and was a bit lost (typical at the time though)
WORKRATE - 8, Became a very good hand eventually. He could work plenty styles and was very smooth as an athlete.

at the time i didnt appreciate him but compared to the talent in the E now his a main eventer, he would be the rock in 2017 with his mic work. solid gimmick the last true character gimmick in the wwe with a backstory and everything, i remember them talking about mvp being the top free agent and he came in on some primetime deon sanders shyt, workrate was decent. he got mark Henry to change his ring gear too, hardy challenge was funny, and had that racial gimmick with legacy, all in all he was a little too early or late for his time. 6.5

Mic work/promos: 9
Amazing promo work. Back when they were giving everyone a talk show, his VIP Lounge was easily one of the best shows during that era. He played a great heel and excelled in his role as the arrogant pro athlete.

Then in TNA he dropped this:

He was a natural on the mic and wasn't afraid to be controversial.

Personality/gimmicks: 9
He had one of the best gimmicks of his era and fully invested himself in it. I especially loved the tunnel. :banderas:

Little things like the tunnel added so much to his character.

Also who could forget that fire theme? It's one of the few times when Silkk the Shocker sounded like a decent rapper who actually was close to rapping on the beat. :lawd:

People would clown him for his wrestling outfit but I thought that it added to his delusional self centered character. Plus it was unique and stood out.

My only complaint is when they gave him that terrible losing streak storyline and basically killed any remaining credibility that he possessed. They made him lose to Kizarny. fukking Kizarny. :aicmon:

If you're going to turn a character like MVP face there are far better ways to do it besides humbling him and making him look like a joke.

Ring work (along with some of your favorite matches/feuds): 7

I thought that he turned the corner as a wrestler when he faced Chris Benoit in a 2 out of 3 Falls Match. He was definitely above average and knew how to work a crowd. His feud with Matt Hardy was classic and brought us some entertaining moments. I even liked his brief alliance with Mr. Kennedy who was another favorite wrestler of mine during that era.

Benoit vs MVP, Wrestlemania 23, US Title Match

Benoit vs MVP [2 Out Of 3 Falls, Judgment Day 2007, US Title Match]

Rey Mysterio vs MVP, Smackdown 11/23/07

Overall rating: 8

One of my favorite wrestlers during the Ruthless Aggression/late 2000s Era. It's a shame that he never won a World Title but he still has a pretty solid resume and a memorable character. :ehh:

Like I mentioned earlier, the losing streak storyline buried any chance of having a main event run and was a waste of time.

breh that losing streak was scusting ruined his credibility. To sell it they could have just had him talk shyt and get a bsd loss in ONE loss for the storyline after losing to kizarny it's hard to even take a dude as more than a jobber. I might be in a minority but i liked his feud with matt hardy good idead to have two arrogant douchy wrestlers have a feud over who can do something better

I missed him almost entirely. His run fell between my disgust with the end of the Attitude Era and my interest being piqued again by the pipe bomb. But absolutely nothing about him stands out in the clips I've seen. No rating, no interest.

MVP is one of my idols. Wasted potential, though he was able to generate a lot of success, he could have been waaaaay bigger.

Was just watching his entrance the other day and it's so perfect

Average I give him a 5 Benoit really put him over before his death they had nice feud going but WWE pretty much buried him. I liked MVP in TNA but I never thought to myself damn I gotta watch that MVP vs fill in the blank match.

So you came in this thread to state that you've never watched MVP, never plan on watching him, and for obvious reasons won't give a rating? :leostare:

Thanks for letting us know I guess.

Very overrated. A 5 maybe. No real good matches. A few promos that were alright but never money. He was on fire after he best up Matt Hardy in 07. He was good on the Mic in TNA. But when Miz ate him up at Survivor Series on the mic? I never took him serious again.
