With a scale of 1-10 how would you rate Sting in these categories:

-Mic work/promos

-Personality/gimmicks

-Ring work (along with some of your favorite matches/feuds)

-Overall rating (which doesn't have to be an average of the above scores)

-Mic work/promos
  • 4. Sting was average as shyt on the mic. His best and most over year ever he didn't talk for an entire year. Name me a classic sting promo.
-Personality/gimmicks
  • 8 - Crow sting was over as a character and surfer sting was too. He was a quentissetial Babyface and did it well.
-Ring work (along with some of your favorite matches/feuds)
  • 7. Hogan, Vader, rude, flair, all goat feuds. He was great getting sympathy. He has worked the same comeback for like 20 years but it works.

Overall - 6. I don't like sting :yeshrug: at no point did i rate him as high as his peers, he got the push Luger Luger should have gotten as well in that era, and like I said in his best year ever he didnt wrestle and didn't speak. He isn't trash but he wasn't as good as those around him (rude, Vader, flair, muta, Arn, Hollywood, etc). Incredibly overrated all time.

-Mic work/promos: 8. Never really said anything special, but he said it with a lot of energy.

-Personality/gimmicks: 10. Was great as the charismatic bleach blonde superhero, and equally great as the somber, quiet anti-hero

-Ring work (along with some of your favorite matches/feuds): 6. Sting was a solid above average worker, but could be carried to a great match. Favorite feuds include ones against Flair, Vader, Rude, Luger, and the nWo. Just about any match he had against Flair or Vader is guaranteed to be good or great. Also had a great match against Foley at Bash at the Beach '92.

-Overall rating (which doesn't have to be an average of the above scores): 10. One of my favorites growing up. The people that don't put respect on his name are kids who are too young to have seen his WCW career in action or neckbeards that hang on to every word of Dave Meltzer.

Oh, and fukk Seth Rollins.

Mic Work/Promo's: 8
Knows how to get his point across cut several strong promos. He actually became a damn good promo in TNA in his time there, his lead into BFG vs Samoa Joe for example.

start at 4:05. I'll defend "he can't talk" everytime with this promo

Watch his eyes and body language. That's babyface Fire 101 not just everyone has that knack.

Personality/Gimmicks: 10

Ultimate babyface. Was actually a damn good heel in WCW circa late 1999 but no one wanted to boo him, same in TNA.

Surfer was very 80's early 90's. Crow was everything the late 90's was
Say what you will about Joker Sting but he was in his 50's and was still willing to attempt a different wrinkle in his persona.

Ring Work: 9

Ric Flair, The Great Muta, Rick
Rude, Vader, The Steiners, Lex Luger, The Roadwarriors, Nikita Koloff, Hulk Hogan, Randy Savage, Samoa Joe, Kurt Angle DDP etc all completely different styles and he had good to great matches with all of them. So you can't just blindly claim he can't carry his end of a match

Overall Rating: 9

-Mic work/promos - mic work was very solid although nothing really memorable...dude knew how to cut a clear cut babyface promo and get his point across without stumbling over his words..he actually evolved into a better talker in his TNA run. give him a 6

-Personality/gimmicks - surfer sting was over as can be as was regular sting...but crow sting is a legendary gimmick it even extended the career of jeff farmer aka cobra aka nwo sting for at least another 5-7 years by gimmick association..gotta give him the full monty here

-Ring work (along with some of your favorite matches/feuds) - this is where i dont understand where people want to front on sting: in his prime dude got better, worked his ass off and was damned good in the ring...flair, vader, cactus jack, rick rude, steve austin, lex luger, great muta, steiner brothers, ddp, macho man, hogan, etc etc..he consistently delivered in big time matches 9

-Overall rating (which doesn't have to be an average of the above scores) the only real knock against sting is that he went to the WWE too damn late in his career..when wcw folded in 01 he was only slightly passed his prime BUT could still go..he would have fit in the ruthless aggression era..instead he wasted it in TNA..and unfortunately his WWE stint displayed a very past it Sting who had his career ended at the hands of a careless spot monkey..almost similar to the career ending injuries he inflicted on rick rude :patrice:

Sting gets a solid 9 from me

He's a 10. Close 2nd favorite wrestler of all time.

The man built an incredible legacy without much involvement in the wwe.

Top 5 biggest contributors of the biggest boom period in wrestling history.

To go to an relatively new company and elevate them as well as help build up so many people's careers is another testament to his contribution to the game.

Dude has the longevity, impact, wrestling skills, mic abilities, drawing power, etc.

Top 10 to ever do it as well as top 10 in all time popularity.

I give him a 9. In the history of the superhero babyfaces, no one did it better than Sting. Far more capable in the ring than Hogan and Warrior, and far more giving than any of them, Sting was the ultimate company man who would put over whoever needed to be put over (except for Vampiro) and do whatever was needed for the good of WCW. His matches with Cactus and Vader blow away anything Warrior/Hogan types were doing, and the nWo angle would not have worked with anyone else but him in his spot.
