BEDFORD-STUYVESANT — A man driving by a Brooklyn elementary school during a fire drill yelled “F—k black lives, they don’t matter” at the children, hurled racial epithets and told them he voted for Donald Trump, police said.
Students were outside for a fire drill at P.S. 21 Crispus Attucks on Chauncey Street near Patchen Avenue on Dec. 13 around 10:30 a.m. when the motorist came by and started yelling, officials said.
“F—k Black Lives Matter, f—k black lives they don’t matter,” the man shouted towards the students, according to police.
“You f—ing gorillas and baby monkeys. We voted for Trump. Trump’s building a wall, and you’ll be going back to where you belong.”
After yelling, he attempted to drive forward as children were crossing the street, an NYPD spokesman said.
The incident was first reported by the New York Post.
A school administrator reported the occurrence to police, who are investigating it as a case of reckless endangerment, an NYPD spokesman said.
Police did not provide details on what prompted the man’s shouting, and described him as around 35 years old. No injuries were reported and the driver fled on Patchen Avenue towards Fulton Street, officials said.
The Department of Education did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
